I bought this product because I do not have a standard crib. Mine has wide rails and I would not be able to use the other rails that are available on the market. First I want to say that there are a couple of reviews on here that said the adhesive tape was not included. I am not saying that that is not true, however, when I first opened the box and took out the gummi rail, I too thought that I was missing the adhesive, until I looked closer. There are in fact 2 adhesive strips about a half inch wide on either side of the rail. They use a clear strip to cover the adhesive, so it is hard to see, but look closely, and you will most likely find it. Having experience with a prior baby chewing on the crib rail, I decided to get this before baby was born. I put it on myself, and it really was not a big deal. I was a little frustrated at first, as the rail protector was coming up as I was putting it on. after going about half way, putting on both sides at once, I decided to get out the hair dryer, which is recommended both for removal AND to use on area's that are coming back up. This makes sense since glue after all, does have a melting point. The following is my recommendation. 1- Use a hair dryer from the start. It helps to remelt the glue so that it is much more sticky when applying. 2- Apply one side of the rail protector at a time. This will give the glue time to set. Move to the other side after about 10 minutes and after the following step is used. 3- After firmly applying the adhesive side with the heat of the dryer, use the cool option on the hair dryer to help speed up the setting of the glue. The cool air will help the melted glue to harden faster. AND make sure you use the Alcohol, as the directions say. This removes all impurities and oils that would prevent the glue from working in the first place. That's it. Once I used the method above, it worked perfectly and I wished I would have done it that was from the start. I would have been done much faster.

I like this rail protector. My husband put it on in about ten minutes and even if you have to buy two, it's still cheaper than some of the other rail guards on the market. One box will cover one long rail or you can cut it in half and cover two short rails.

does the rail come witht the adhesive? Mine did not??? If not what should I use?
    by an anonymous customer 2/12/2010
    • the tape adhesive is on the smooth side of the product, a small strip on either side.

    • The rail comes with the adhesive already on it. You need to peel off the protective strips on the underside of the rail to expose the adhesive. One section of the adhesive on mine has not stayed stuck, so I've put double-sided tape on that section, and it seems to be working reasonably well, so maybe you could use double-sided tape if you're having problems with the adhesive.

    • Mine came with tape strips on both sides of the chewing rail. When I peeled the tape off, it stuck to the crib railing perfectly.

    • The adhesive is on the back of the cushion. At first I didnt think that it was self adhesive and then I noticed two smooth strips on one side which will peel off to reveal the sticky part.

    • Look Closely, there most likely in fact is adhesive. I thought that mine did not come with any either, but it did. There are 2 half in strips of adhesive on opposite sides of the gummie rail and it is covered by a clear strip to protect the glue.

    • There is a paper included in the box. The tape is supposed to be clear on each side. There is am email to ask for tape, beware, they want everything short of a blood sample. I went and bought double sided 3M tape.

    • The Gummi Rail Protector came with an adhesive strip in place on both edges of the guard. It was a little hard to see at first. Hopefully you just overlooked it!

Would this work with rails that aren't straight? I want to buy my son this crib pictured below but I need to find a teething rail that will fit on this type of rail. . .

    • yes it has instructions on proper installing on curved rails

    • It does not fit on cribs that are curved. We used every glue we could think of and nothing would make it stick. Hope this helps

    • yes it works on curved rails too. I had to cut into pieces to go with curves, but dont spend the money, it will come unstuck in 24 hours. Buy the fleece rail covers.
