KidKraft Large Pastel Play Kitchen 4.7 5 849 899
Glad we bought this years ago Hi I had to write a new review after seeing the negative ones here! We bought this for Christmas for our now 7 year old girl several years and houses ago. It is solid REAL wood approx 1/4" thick, not particle board, we do have enough knowledge to know the difference. It did take us a while to put together Christmas morning, but it is very sturdy and my 4 kids play with it often. My oldest is an autistic, not gentle boy, unless your kids are going to just TRY to be destructive and break it, it should not...Over the years only one piece has broken, the little box that fits in the fridge door to be the water and ice maker. If I had the time and desire I could easily fix it. We've moved several times, have never had to retighten anything, and this kitchen still looks very nice and is played with so much that this year for Christmas all of the food and dishes are being replaced! Oh, and several play tables even solid wood ones haven't lasted like this kitchen, so we are getting a new one of those too. We do have the wood toaster that is in the ad photo and my picture below, it DOESN'T come with the kitchen, it is super cute, also several years old, even though it's more expensive than other options I think it's a better choice since it still works and others are long gone, and still makes great toast if you have a some imagination, or a stomach for wood grain toast! Your kid(s) and you should be pleased, and this will stand up to time and many, many, many tasty treats and meals!I just went down to take a current pic, I looked for worn spots, or chipped off paint areas, but I COULDN'T find any. The second pic is of one of the magnets enclosed in a small wood stopper to hold the oven door closed, (I wish my expensive furniture was built like that so my toddler wasn't always bringing me magnets!) it also shows the hinge for the cabinet door, and the colored screw caps on the inside, I remember being impressed with that. The screws for the back or outside are painted the color of the wood they belong to, but the ones for inside of the play area have paint matching caps to look even nicer and protect the kiddoes. Seriously I think she was only 3 when we got this for her. Enjoy! 10/29/2009
Great Kitchen This kitchen is AWESOME! I bought my daughter one of the more expensive plastic kitchens last year for her birthday and after a year I was sick of it. So, I started looking around and I found this one. I was amazed at how much storage space this kitchen provided, and how realistic the burners and faucet were. Those plastic kitchens don't even compare to this piece. The refrigerator door is just my 3 year olds size and she don't have to bend down or reach up to far. I looked at the lower priced kidkraft kitchens and I would not even consider them because for a few extra dollars you get so much more! 11/03/2008
Play Kitchen This is a BIG kitchen. I got this for my 1 year olds birthday. She needs a steppy stool to reach the sink and stove top but she still plays with it and her brother , who is 8, can play with it with her too so if you want a kitchen that will be usable through multiple ages or children and is very hard wearing this one is a good value.A tip for construction, the bottom goes metal pieces UP tword the top. The pictures don't show which way to turn it, also there are some bolts and nuts which go in the sides of the yellow cabinet, be sure you have those in first before you tighten the counter top on. 08/25/2009
My husband and I bought this kitchen for our daughter for Christmas and it wasn't as high quality as I expected after reading the reviews and product description. As usual, it is particle board and not real wood. One of the pieces did crack and some of the exterior broke off and exposed the particle board which we were not pleased with and several of the screws were too long and left dented areas in the doors. Once the kitchen was together it was too cute but I hope it lasts through my daughters childhood. Overall, it is an okay kitchen but it just wasn't the quality I was expecting. 12/23/2008
