I love this scanner! I wanted one of the expensive, stand-up kind vs. the old desktop-consuming flatbed one I had. But, once I priced them, I didn't want to spend the near $250 price tag. I read the reviews and took a chance on this $88 design. LOVE IT! Read the quick guide as you install it. Make sure your cord is FULLY inserted into the back of the keyboard - I was certain mine was, but when the computer wouldn't recognize the scanner, I thought "Here we go..." Reading the TroubleShooting section made me check the cord. You will also notice a green light in the paper slot come on briefly when the cord in plugged it. Drivers licenses scan, but not perfectly. Due to the gloss, give it a shove to get through. Video tuts on the CD. LOVE the automatic PDF scanning option. Make the document seachable! And, I don't see any reason you couldn't scan as many docs as you wanted in a day. Running on XP Home with Service Pack 2. Wireless mouse works great with it, and my Linksys wireless USB internet "thingy" works great plugged into the back of the keyboard. (Okay, I'm done...)

KeyScan Imaging Keyboard - a great product

The KeyScan Imaging-Keyboard is a fast USB2 scanner. Color, 600 dot per inch with integrated USB2 hub (2 downstream ports) very different from any other scanner. It comes bundled with the unique KeyScan NoTouch-AutoScan software, while with other scanners you must touch or click buttons to get scanning into required function, with KeyScan NoTouch you simply place the document on the feeding tray and it will scan and feed it into a default function setting while giving you the option to interrupt and get it into other function of you choice.

I bought one of these for the office and since then almost everyone wants them -- I order them 3 at a time. We have 11 so far, only problem in 2+ years is one bad power supply, which the company replaced in 2 days, no proof of anything needed. The new driver's licenses in Florida look like a blob if you copy them, but using this scanner they look like the actual license. This is not the scanner to use if you want to archive 30 page documents every day. You can scan multi-page documents to a single pdf file painlessly but it's somewhat slow. Primarily, we use these to email invoices and shipping documents to our customers. We finally can offer something so convenient to our customers without taking any extra time from our staff. It sure is faster than faxing to them! Without ever getting up from their desks, without taking more than an extra inch for the keyboard size, my staff can email any document, any card, any ID in full color pdf anywhere in the world. A note about how this scanner handles documents. If you have a wrist rest, you'll have to move it when you scan paper because the paper feeds out under the keyboard's bottom edge - by the space bar. There is no paper guide there, the keyboard is just raised slightly off the desk. ID's, business cards, plastic cards like AAA membership - they feed in the top slot and they pop straight back up. The scanner is a straight path and doesn't damage or catch on cards or documents. The feeder is surprisingly robust. The oldest of these that we have is the previous model, it is the same but doesn't handle cards. It is used a few times per day and I've never done maintenance or had an issue with it. I should probably check how to clean it someday !!

Will this be able to scan a trading card without bending the card?
    by WiiGuy101 2/22/2010
    • Will bend, but does not fold nor create a fold mark, such as if you personaaly folded the card in half.

    • If it will fit, yes. I scanned my ID card and a ton of business cards and it worked great.

    • It returns the card at the top where it is inserted. Letter size documents are ejected out the bottom of the scanner. It will not ben the card.

    • Yes, pages are not bent when feeding. However, there may be limits on the thickness of card stock. Business cards feed okay, and are not pulled all the way through, but reverse, and exit the same feed port.

    • I would say yes. Never done it, but it doesn't bend anything. No folding or sharp curves. Does a stiff driver's license.

    • Yes, this device will be able to scan a trading card without bending the card. The device has a smart feature where it will detect the size of the document you are scanning and a trading card is small enough so it will scan and come back out the top. Scans are in a straight line and they do not curve or bend a trading card.

    • Yes, it scans anything that is 11 X 8.5" or smaller. You can adjust the resolution quality of the scan in increments from 100 to 600.

    • Yes, but the page feeder pulls the page through the keyboard. The pages cannot be bound or have staples or paperclips. I use it to scan business cards.

    • The KeyScan device scans documents up to 8 1/2x 30 inch to a 1mm thick plastic card such as a license. You cannot scan a credit card since the numbers on the card are raised. You can also scan photos, receipts, anything you can think of basically. It is a great device and you will love it once you start to use it.

    • The keyboard itself is wireless but you have to have it wired to your computer to make the scanner work.
      by DWdreamer11/9/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • No, it has to have power to power the scanner via a power cord, and it has a cord that connects to the back of the computer.
      by MontgMom31611/21/2010
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • No, this keyboard is not wireless the reason being the scanner needs power. In the future we may look into this option but as of now, you need the usb cable and the power cable to run the device. It doesnt really matter though if its wireless or not, you can hook it up to your laptop anywhere. I use mine on business trips in coffee shops, airports, where ever you go its easy to use.
