I love Keurig and went out immediately to get the K300 model. I am rating it 5 stars because it does meet all my needs as I very seldom drink actual coffee but love all the other beverages offered. The Carafe is a great addition bc my mom is a heavy coffee drinker and I can make her a couple of cups at once or make a Carafe of tea for us to share. I am confused by some of the complaints because Kcups do indeed still work with this model I did not purchase any new ones to use with this brewer. Also if I'm correct if you buy the Keurig brand MyKcup, I think it is called it should work to brew your own coffee because the regular Kcups do still work with this model. Also I believe that the higher models may accommodate larger cups sizes than the K300 which is the base model of the 2.0 line for lack of a better word. However, the K300 does have 4 cup brewing sizes in addition to the Carafe sizes which give a total of 9 brewing sizes unlike the first line in which the base model only has the 3 cup sizes. It is kind of sad that brands other than Keurig may not work with this unit but being that it's Keurig I'd say give them a few months and either Keurig or the other companies may adapt to that need.

I used the K-cups (with the Keurig logo) that I had from my old Keurig brewer. It is true that this new 2.0 version won't read the old k-cups. I called Keurig directly and was informed to look for the new k-cups compatible with this new 2.0 and to replace the k-cups that I can't use they offer me a free box coupon code to get k-cups of my selection + free shipping. I was told that the price will be the same as the "no-readable". Good customer service and fast. I love it so far. Love the design + I have the carafe option when we have guests.

    • you can carefully cut the top ring off the k cup (making sure the foil is with it) and use contact cement to glue it to the top the cheap red plastic k cup basket . the darn thing reads the outside part of the ring top. ... been using mine for two weeks

    • No, it only takes the specific 2.0 k-cups, which are not easily found. Even where we purchased ours. (Which we returned)

    • Not at the present. The system is too new for the aftermarket manufacturers to have figured out how to circumvent the reading technology of this system.

    • My refillable coffee filter on my smaller Keurig will not fit this model. I did look on a few websites and they show adapter cups that should fit this model. However, we can't figure out how to take the K-cup holder out to insert the cup.

    • If you have old K cups, even those from Green Mountain with Logo on them, they dont work. Im taking my system back for a knock off. Im not going to be forced into paying higher prices for coffee becasue their machine is snobby and too good to use generics. These cups of coffee are already more expensive than the drip brewers, but they I do agree that they do make good coffee. But so will a Mr. Coffee K cup knock off. Vote with your dollars. Take them back. Keurig will eventually get the hint

    • No, in fact you can't even use regular K-cups. You need the hard-to-find 2.0 cups

    • When I used even older genuine K-Cups, it didn't recognize them, but let me dispense water through it at 4 and 6 oz intervals. If you're using licensed pods, such as Dunkin Donuts ones, they should work fine as long as they are manufactured after January 2014. On some posts I've read, this could be as late as after July 2014. Since I don't live in a Dunkin Donuts area (West Coast), I can't try and confirm this. However, if they are detected as unlicensed aftermarket pods, it will just give you an "Oops" message, which won't let you brew them at all.

    • No.....a message that says Oops pops up and the non K-cups will not work. The box states that it only uses K-cups, but I thought because the cups looked identical in size, they would work......wrong!!!!

    • Some you can. Only keurig approved brands. I know green mountain is one. I am not sure of all the rest. ( which only means they have to pay keurig to have the right kind of seal on top of the pod). If it is not approved by keurig it will not brew.

    • According to the Keurig website, the only k-cup packs that will work have to include the white ring around the outside of the k-cup lid.

    • It comes with one type of pod. The licensed kind. Keurig has made this brewer work with one type of coffee, their brand name, overpriced pods. Any others will not even function. This is the worst product release in memory.
