    I am in a very small apartment and have a 5 year old that likes to get in the middle of everything. Do you need alot of space to perform the exercises on the dvd?

    • A. I would guess you need to have about a 5-7 ft total so you can move back and forth. You always need the room for the laying down parts of the video.

    • A. Not too much space is needed, just clear out a small area. Mainly you will be working out on or around your yoga mat, or the equivalent size of a yoga mat if you do not have one.

    • A. No. All you need is a mat and light weights...I would say 3lbs-5lbs. You perform jumping jacks and other things for the cardio which I have a small room and can do it there.

    • A. No - I only have a small space in front of my TV. I move my coffee table to the side and I have plenty of room. Figure you will be doing situps with your arms outstetched over your head so you don't want to be hitting anything. Sometimes I go at an angle to get more room like if she says to walk forward, etc. But it works.

    • A. No you don't need that much space. Just think how much space u need to do jumping jacks and push ups? And u can probably integrate u're kid in coping the exercises...

    • A. You can manage in space about 4' x 8' - maybe a little less... like an open area in your living room. You will need a heavy towel or a mat for the situps and even as a non-slip surface for some of the pushups and planks... and you will need a set of hand weights. I find that being able to do this in a small, somewhat confined area is one of the plusses of this workout video. My cousin does this workout in her living room, and her 2-year-old and 7-year-old "work out" alongside! They think it's fun!

    • A. I have the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and it does not require a lot of space. You would need enough space to lay down and do the floor exercises but I would say that's about the same amount of space needed for the stand up exercies.

    • A. It's nice to have some light dumbbells anywhere from 2-10 lbs. but it's not necessary. It's also nice to have an exercise mat but if you have comfortable carpeting you don't need that either.

    • A. She says 2 sets of weights, 1 light and 1 heavy. She never says the actual weight but in the first two weeks (I'm only on week 2) they're using 3lb weights. My guess is she says "light/heavy" so you can choose what's best for you.

    • A. You need hand weights. I have a 3 lb set that have worked fine. A yoga mat or something comfortable to lay on is a must have because in almost all of the ab exercises you are laying on your back.

    I like that there are two assistants. One showing beginners what to do and the other for more advanced people. There is a meal plan included and you don't have to eat the same food everyday. Each week the workout is different so you won't get bored.

    I recently started my weight loss journey and chose this dvd as my daily workout. A couple of friends come over every day mon-fri and we get our butts worked!! lol As a sedetary person, this is not too hard for me. It is definately challenging, which is what I need. Jillian explains and shows everything, you will have no problem following along. The moves are controlled and you use every muscle in your body. I just finished week 3 and I feel amazing!! I definately see a change in my body, especially my "muffin top"- its almost gone!!! I have about 40 lbs I want to lose and am in no way "fit" so if you're worried that you have to be an athlete to do this dvd, DONT because you can!! She has one helper showing the advanced way and another helper showing the beginner way to do the moves. She is so motivating through out the work out and its only about 25 min long which leaves you no excuse to not have time! I cant wait to try her other dvd's!!! And for less than $10 its completely worth it!!!

    I came off of Jillian's 6 week 6 pack DVD and went into this one for some variety. It has proven very effective. I've not only toned, but I've also felt stronger just as I have with her other DVD's I own. It doesn't matter which workout of hers I follow, as long as I am consistent and workout with her 5 times a week, I see results. More importantly, I'm seeing results in areas that other workouts are not providing me. I'm into week 3 of this DVD and I continue trying to keep up with her. I feel great after her workouts and with them only taking 20 minutes there is no excuse as to why I can't get a good, effective workout every morning. As usual, with Jillian, some of her moves are quite challenging and unique but I think it keeps it interesting and provides incentive to work harder to match up the advanced level. This is a great purchase for a good price and a highly effective workout.

    I LOVE Jillian Michaels workout DVD's. I had great success with The 30 Day Shred and have used it on a relatively consistent basis for about 2 yrs now. I also have No More Trouble Zones, which I only do once in awhile when I'm in better shape because it is very challenging. I wanted something similar to 30 day shred because I love the 3-2-1 and the short time frame. Ripped in 30 is similar in style, but much more challenging than the 30 day shred. I would compare Level 1 on Ripped to Level 3 on Shred; however, I can only imagine the killer results a person could achieve in 30 days. I watched my body completely change in 30 days with the Shred by following a 1600 calorie/day diet and doing each level for 10 days with no breaks. I can't wait to see how my body will change with the Shred, but I'm having a hard time being as motivated due to the challenge of Level 1. I can't imagine how crazy Level 4 will be.

    I am a mom of four and was wanting to tone up. This video had me sweating within minutes and could definitely feel it the next day. It's short and to the point which is exactly what i need with four boys!
