JVC KTHDPK1 Transportable HD Radio Tuner with Car Kit 3.6 5 29 33
Can't beet it for the price Worked as advertised, I use it around the Baltimore area. I get around 15 or so local FM stations in HD with it and I love the Multi-cast channels. I can also pull in quite a few FM stations and multi casts from DC as well with the unit. Although the digital signal does drop out occasionally in some places aroudn town on the weaker DC stations. I recently replaced my antenna and ground and that really helped a lot with this. AM works OK, non HD AM stations don't sound that great due to the limited bandwidth of HD AM receivers in general in analog mode. AM HD to me, doesn't seem to sound quite as good as FM HD. To me, AM HD sounds like a 128 -192 bit MP3 with some digital artifacts, It's OK for voice, but I notice the artifacts a lot with music, which I would rate the artifacts as slightly worse then the digital artifacts I hear on my XM radio. In general I definitely think that the FM HD is a WAY better system, and most FM HD stations I have heard sound better then my XM radio.A couple of words of advice on the install: if your car radio has an input jack or a tape deck with better response then an FM radio, DEFINITELY use it instead of the FM modulator, it made a difference, and you can really hear the improved FM quality as well. (I recommend the same for anyone running an MP3 player or XM radio as well, sounds WAY Better!) Also, I can not stress enough how important having a good antenna and ground is, as someone with a lot of car stereo experience I can tell you that ANY radio is only as good as the antenna, and this HD radio is no exception, the better the antenna, the more stations you will get and the less digital drop outs you will have. Also beware that some of the GM and Chrysler adapters can be lossy signal wise, consider changing the antenna out to one with a standard plug.Anyway, not bad at all for the price and it will not replace XM, for me, but I like that I have both XM and HD in my car and I added quite a few listening options for such a low price and I have no additional subscription fees. 06/14/2010
I fixed my old plymouth, installed the JVC tuner in it, and gave it to my daughter for her 16 B-Day. I am her HERO; Not for the car, but for the stereo system involving one JVC tuner. Great sound, powerful reception, I love it, and my daughter loves it. What else is important? 01/18/2010

Great Gadget This JVC HD Radio tuner works great. Sensitivity is good when used with car's upright antenna. Installation does take a little skill and a few tools. 07/27/2010
