Can't speak for Windows 7, but works for Windows 8. If you check out the iogear webpage, you will see that there are multiple driver download options for different versions of the Windows OS.

Bluetooth "base" functionality is nearly guranteed by Microsoft with "Darfon" generic drivers, well kept secret but free to anyone at freely available in 32 and 64bit versions w/o registration or cost.

Base drivers are rudimentary , designed for installing and functionally powering up the bluetooth adapter. Deciphering problematic customized bluetooth software isn't for the uninitiated.connecting mice is rudimentary and included within Windows, but speakers or camerasm DVR's and the rest of the stuff making Bluetooth alluring isnt assured and might rely on customized software cpable of creating bigger issues no Darfon driver can repair.

These ioGears are inconsistently made, either too tight or too loose in thee USB port.
I use Ciragos
comparably priced, better drivers, widely compatible and optional feature installation app suite know for stability. Ive owned both and others and Ciragos consistenlty outperform and outlast the rest of my USB BT dongles measured in yearsle time

I have found that this device works with some bluetooth devices and not with others. It will not recognize some devices for no apparent reason.

Radio like Sony Kenwood or others that has USB adapters, those are designed for media playing not to use PC parts.

Will this work with a car stereo as well?

Yes, this adapter is a very good product.

You don't need this adapter to connect your smartphone to your car. Your adapter will be installed on your LAPTOP or DESKTOP. If your phone isn't BLUETOOTH capable, then you won't be able to connect it to anything.

This is a PC USB adapter for PC. If you have a PC running your system in you vehicle like I do them yes.

If it is a normal radio with USB adapter, no it work work. You have to find a USB adapter from that radio manufacturer.

I was skeptical at first about the transfer speed but it really pulled through.

- Very small wont take up space.

- Connect up to 4 devices at once.

- Very Affordable.

- Transfer more than 1 file at a time (Other bluetooth usb will only allow 1 file at a time)

- SIMPLE TO INSTALL USUALLY JUST PLUG AND PLAY. Unless your computer asks for drivers which the cd already came with.

- If your desktop or laptop does NOT have bluetooth, this usb will give you bluetooth funtionality using authentic windows drivers NOT a 3rd party driver or seperate program to transfer files.

I was looking for a way to get bluetooth on my PC. After research I learned that I just needed a bluetooth adapter. My need for bluetooth was to easily transfer pictures from my phone to my PC without the hassle of searching through folders when connecting my USB to my computer like usual. Now, I can quickly and easily pick a picture and shoot it straight over to my PC, no hassle! I love it. :D

I looked at reviews for this product before purchasing. I installed the driver the works with Windows 8, have had it for a couple of weeks and so far I am beyond happy. Installation was very simple although it took while for my Bluetooth headphones to be discovered. Best advice---download the driver from the website. -Happy Customer So Far

I love this adapter, was cheap and work great at Windows Vista and Windows 7. Was easy to install and use. I can transfer files from pc to my cellphone faster that using the usb cable, and can use my cellphone as remote control for power point presentations.

Bought this bluetooth adapter for headphones to work with windows 7. easy to setup. I really like the small size of the adapter. It's small size does not get in the way of other USB functions.

I bought this item to connect "Monster Speakers" (BTW 248) to a web computer that is loaded with music. The drivers are on a small CD that may not work on older drives. If that is the case, they can be downloaded from Logear web site. For my application, I recommend this device.

Works great!

Needed to replace some older bluetooth adapters i had for my laptop so i went with this one. Was high rated on the net so i go this one. Performs similarly to the Asus Adapter for my desktop since it used the same drivers. Im not getting the transfer rate that i was expecting but at least it works well with my laptop. It has no light so not sure when its on. Have to rely on the computer to tell me its on. But overall, for the value and what it can do, i recommend it. Perfect for transferring files between your phone and your desktop and visa verse.

Similar to Asus

I installed the micro adapter on my Window's 8.1 machine although the literature only cited OS systems up to Windows XP.  The Quick Guide instructions did not produce the  step by step "wizard" so I called tech support.  The woman was notably rushed and unpleasant.  She said, "go to the website and download the manual but, I can't wait for you while you do that."  I suspect my operational questions will meet with the same insolence.

Poor support

This adapter does not work with a standard Apple bluetooth keyboard. It works OK with the mouse, but it will not communicate with the keyboard.
