EXCELLENT "STARTER" BED - even for everyday use!

    Customer review by OutonLimb

    5.0 stars by OutonLimb

I had just moved into an apartment from another town and had no furniture. I needed a bed right away but could not afford it. A friend highly recommended this Intex Queen Size raised bed with the 19" bed height, although I wanted to buy the cheaper 13" height one. She said those extra inches make a difference when you have to get up, especially in the middle of the night, and that, with the extra height, the air bed looks like a normal box spring and mattress set when you put a bedspread on it. She was so right! I have used it every night for the past three months and find it to be so comfortable, and it nice with a comforter set with bed skirt, that I can put off buying a regular bed with mattress and buy other needed living room furnishings first. I call it my "starter bed".

Mattress inflated fast. We slept on it 2 nights, it only stretched out a little bit, not enough to require re-inflating. Easy to pack up and very comfortable. We are close to the 600 lb limit together and this mattress held up very well.

    • No, this airbed does not have a built-in pump. You would need to purchase a separate pump in order to fill up the bed.

    • Yes, thats correct. No air pump. I used a standard one found on walmart and it worked just fine.

    • There is NO built-in pump. I use a separate electric pump. However, from my prior experience, unless it's a really expensive "high-end" air bed, the built-in pumps tend to leak more around the input valves. This has been just fine.

    • It has a built in pillow, but no built in pump. You'll have to buy the pump seperately.

    • My unit did have a built in pump. But, be advised, my unit also had a leak, the hole for which was located right above the built in pump. I recommend buying air mattresses with external pumps because the most common failure of air mattresses is an air leak and friction between the mattress and internal pump might increase the chance of developing a leak.

I need to buy a pump with the Intex Raised Airbed, but I'm not sure which one works with the valve on this airbed. Please advise.

    • I paid $35 dollars for a AC charging pump and the charge last for a very long time like 2 months if u don't use it everyday (colmeman) but why your at it u might want to get a coleman air mattress to because these will blow out in the seam after about 2 dozen uses

    • I'm using a separate electric pump. I think they all come with different size attachments for different input valves. I use the one that is actually a part of the pump.

    • If you are ALWAYS going to be near a 120volt outlet, the Coleman plug in is the way to go. If you WILL NOT always be near a 120volt outlet ,buy the Coleman RECHARGEABLE pump. I have the rechargeable one, and it is the way to go as far as I am concerned. I have had it over a year and it holds a charge for a good long time but it also sounds like a vacuum cleaner on steroids!

    • Any pump will work but some are faster than others, and have different adapters. I have always trusted Coleman, so that is what I would go with.

    • I used both the Coleman battery operated pump (not the rechargeable one) and an older Ozark trail plug in pump and they both worked great. Either way you have to hold it on the inflation port the whole time which is a bit of a pain but the bed fills in a few minutes anyway. You can find the pumps in the same isle as the beds or search air bed pump.most all beds use the same size inflation port.

    • You should be able to buy any air pump. You won't need the nozzels they come with. I would recommend an electric one, I have a battery operated one & I don't feel it works as well as it should. I know Intex has an air pump you can buy separately. Not sure if they have electric ones too.
