I am going to write this review on both the Insta-bed and on Walmart. To make a long story short I bought this through Walmart Online after first going through Amazon, buying and cancelling the order through them because of shady business practice. I then bought through Walmart Online, paid $20 more than 5 minutes earlier and settled in to expect the bed in 7-10 days. The bed arrived in LESS than 48 hours. This Insta-bed Raised Air Bed with NeverFlat is now my third air bed. I use them rather than the "normal" bed because I find them far far more comfortable. So this bed replaced a Coleman which I used just to fill a gap for a few months - that I would say is good for camping or some such use but not as a nightly sleep. I laid out the Insta-bed on the floor. I set the knob to firm and flipped the on switch. When fully inflated this bed looks like a "normal" bed with the sharp edges and general shape. I bought the Queen Size and can speak only about this size but it is so stable I still can't believe it. I can sit on the edge of the bed without it caving in or moving out from under me. This is all the meaningful when you consider that I'm 6' and 240lbs.. I have been sleeping on this now every night for about a month and all I can say is that I have never been this happy with ANY other bed I've had in the last 40+ years. Just to drive the point home this is the first time I have ever written a review of a product or a company. In this case I felt I just had to to help others who might be on the fence. I could not be happier with either Walmart of the Insta-bed. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 the best I would rate both Walmart and Insta-bed at least a 13!

Bought two queen size since I was having company and needed more sleeping area. The beds inflated quickly and held the air for the entire time they were in use. Very firm and did not sag when sitting on the edges. I would recommend without reservation. Looked at higher priced aerobeds since I have slept on those and these were as comfortable and a much lower price.

I have gone thru self-inflatables in recent years, but this one is the best I have experienced. Inflates very rapidly and stays that way - dial in your comfort level and it stays there. Because of the additional pump that keeps the pressure constant, you don't have to mess with additional inflation due to air loss. Thought I might hear the supplementary pump running, but it is either completely silent or the mattress doesn't lose air. Very comfortable. Queen sized bedding fits quite well on it. One thing I want to emphasize is that you really, and I mean REALLY don't need to put this mattress on a platform of any sort. It is plenty high off the floor as it sits. I do use this as my regular bed.

    • Yes, if you have a fitted queen size bottom sheet with elastic around the corners, or even better all the way around, it should stay on fine. There is a groove around the mattress at two levels that should help it "catch" on when you put the sheet on. It depends too on how deep the pockets are. The top covers though can't be tucked in anywhere, they just have to lay on top.

    • We used queen sheets that are actually too tight to stay on our regular bed and they fit very tightly on this air mattress. So standard queen would probably fit, but it might depend on your sheets (stretch, depth, etc.).

    • Yes it does. I used fitted sheets on mine. The bed bulges a bit as expected from an air mattress so the fitted sheets sometimes come off.

    • well, I used a flat sheet on it, because you do NOT want to obstruct the main pump as well as the second pump!

    • I have standard queen sheets on this bed. If I had used deep pocket sheets, they would have covered over the motor vents which would not be a good idea. The standard sheets have stayed on without any complaints.

    • Yes. Regular queen sheets work fine. I even put a foam eggshell on top of the mattress before I put the sheets on to give it exta comfort.

    • If you have a good regular Queen size fitted sheet with elastic on the corners, it will stay on the bed because of the "grooves" around the mattress at two levels. The top sheet, however, will not tuck in and just lays on top with the rest of the top covers. If you don't flail around too much, you should be OK.

    • Queen size sheet fits perfectly and it just stays on - there are ridges on the sides. I recommend a mattress pad cover too.

    • I use King size sheets on mine. Just because we have a KING size regular bed & I had extra sheets for that one. With the king size sheets I am able to tuck the extra under the bottom of the mattress & it stays put. But I also have extra deep fitted king sheets so that probably helps since this is a raised bed. And also the top of the mattress has a velour-type feel, ya know that kind of suede type feel & it "grabs" the sheet. In other words the sheets won't just slide off since the top is not slick. I've never had the sheets come off unless I tugged them off or pulled the excess from under the bottom out. I have not tried these with queen size sheets but I'm guessing you still wouldn't have any trouble because the sheets won't slide off that top surface.

    • The sheet has no issues staying on as there is a curvature to the top of mattress which the sheet grips. Slept on it for a week and the sheet never moved.

    • We tucked the bottom of the flat sheet, and our blanket, into the fitted sheet. The fitted sheet we used is pretty tight.

    • Oueen size fitted sheet fits very well on this bed. Of course, the sheets cannot be tucked in, but can be made to look very nice when made with the right quilt or bedspread.

    • Great question! There is an indentation of the top part of the mattress where a fitted sheet can slightly "tuck in." We haven't had any problems with the fitted sheet coming off.

After you inflate bed do you need the pumps still plugged in or will the bed deflate during the night?
    by an anonymous customer 5/9/2012
    • It should stay plugged in so the NeverFlat system can function and keep the firmness level stable through the night. It can vary with changes in temperature, and even how much weight is on the bed. But you shouldn't experience any significant air loss with it not plugged in. If you do, it's time to look for a leak somewhere.

    • internal pump should stay plugged in because it will deflate a little...if you unplug it and it deflates just reinflate it

    • no and no , but it cut off once it is filled up and so why would you unplug it?
      by fattcrazy12/20/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • It is meant to stay plugged in so the neverflat pump can keep the bed inflated to the setting you choose. However, it's a pretty sturdy bed, and firm, so unless the plastic relaxes over time (or in hot conditions), it might stay inflated just fine for you without being plugged in.

    • We have left it plugged in and I think that's the way it's intended to be. I don't think it'll lose air, but it won't add air if any is lost. The pump is really quiet, so unless there are issues with proximity to a plug, I'd leave it plugged in if possible.
      by KaiM8/27/2012
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • It is recommended that you keep the pump plugged in during the night. The bed has not deflated during the night (or in between guests). I unplug it when not in use...then plug it in when guests arrive...it runs usually about 30 seconds to inflate back to firm...guests have reported it does not run during the night.
      by MEStyle7/11/2012
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • You keep it plugged in and make sure the dial to the secondary pump is turned "on" to the desired firmness you desire (PLUSH, MEDIUM, FIRM). For example, if you have it set to "FIRM", once it inflates to FIRM and automatically shuts off, then the silent secondary pump will come on and off later to insure that it does not deflate if the air pressure changes in the room. So it always stays up until you get ready to deflate it. Then you turn the big knob to DEFLATE and it automatically sucks all the air back out and shuts off. You then roll it up and put it back into the bag.

    • If you leave it plugged in and the NeverFlat control is turned on, the bed is supposed to maintain air pressure. If you unplug it, then it could lose pressure.
      by Argie19806/21/2012
Was this answer helpful? (2) (0)
    • No, there is a dial on it. The dial can move to inflate and deflate. To inflate it MUST be plugged in, to deflate you don't have to have it plugged in, but it will go faster if it's plugged in. It's all about the adjustment of the dial. But no, it will not deflate if you unplug it.
