I think the description of book is accurate, detailed instructions for conducting lab experiments. I bought this book for my 13 year old son who loves science. I plan on working together with him and work through the book from beginning to end. I figure it will take up to a year to complete. I think my son will love the hands on science and he can learn the "lecture material" later in school.
