This question has been going on a lot lately because of e-cigarette users who use glycerin in their liquids.
Typically, most feel that this type is not edible because Humco, the manufacturer of this glycerin, has stated that it is not solely made of vegetable. Sometimes it's all vegetable and sometimes it's not, depending on the lot you get.
There is a vegetable glycerin suitable for use in fondant. Wilton makes it.

Look for vegetable glycerin (VG) Food Grade USP.

You only need FCC grade glycerin to cook with. This superior USP grade Vegetable Glycerine is overkill, plus note that it's intended use is only for skin care. For anybody else who wonders about it, please do some research before you make a decision. Glycerin derived from animal fats is called Tallow, or Crude Mixed, or Technical Grade Only which does not exist in the legitimate USP / FCC market. HUMCO USP Glycerin is completely safe for human use. Thank You.

I just emailed Humco Customer Service department and asked this very same question. They told me that YES it is safe for human consumption!

I seen this product by the pharmacy items, right by the alcohols and disinfectant gels.

In what part of Walmart can I find this product?

You can use glycerin in you hair, mixed with water....but make sure that it is 100% vegetable glycerin (Walgreens sells it) and not made with animal fat. Also, always test a small section of you hair to make sure it doesnt dry or frizz.

It's USP grade. You can use it for any reasonable application. It is pure vegetable glycerin. Follow the same instructions as with other vegetable-based hair care products and you'll get the same results. My grandma loves it!

Yes you can use this mixed in your favorite conditioner (use a bowl to mix the ingredients). You dont need much either. If you do not notice your hair softer after the first try, then add a little bit more and hopefully that will make the difference.

I use this product along with my favorite lotion on my extremly dry skin. My skin stays moisturized throughout the day. Its not oily and does the job of lubricating my skin well. I use it on my face and body

My 3 year old had cracked skin and nth was helping me to get it smooth . I use to apply oil and creams almost 5 times in a day and no satisfactory result .

But glycerine worked wonder . My mother always use to use glycerine and no other moisturizer. My sons skin is like butter now smooth and shiny .

This really helps if you have dry to extremely dry skin.  Sometimes I add this into my lotion bottle or I put it directly on my skin.  I would recommend this product.

Clycerin Skin Protectant

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who hair is shedding or breaking off. I was always on the internet looking for products that would work well on my course 4b/4c natural hair. I have been natural for little over 2 years and this product arrived before that date I anticipated. And, I must say I used it just like the reviews on Walmart stated and it works. And along with that the Biotin by Spring Valley is great as well. I noticed a difference in my hair and skin. Thanks to everyone who reviewed this product and gave their opinion. Thank you!

Oh I forgot to mentioned how I use the glycerin. 50/50 with your conditioner.  Let it sit and rinse out. My hair is super super soft. No need for a perm .

Great Product

I use this product frequently for a science demonstration for students. Great quality, affordable and most important, available! Many drug stores do not carry glycerine even though it is an essential ingredient for several health and beauty products. Although that is not my usual application of the product, I can attest to it quality. Thank you Wal Mart for carrying this product on your shelves as well as online.

Good product that does what it should. I like that it's USP Grade. I've seen it cheaper elsewhere online, but with Wal-Mart's site-to-store you really can't beat it!

Does what it should

Mixed with a pre-made nicotine/glycerine makes a perfect vape for my husband and I.  
It's not always on the shelf in the pharmacy, so I decided that it's just easier to order online.

Perfect VG to create your own ejuice on a DRIP vaporizer... But if you have a TANK vaporizer, this stuff will be too thick & you'll need to dilute it with PG &/or distilled water.

It is thicker than baby oil. To me it holds in the moisture of your skin especially after being in the harsh wind and sun. Great product to have in the medicine cabinet.

I uesd the Humco Glycerin diluted by half with water to preserve boxwood cuttings. The cuttings took up the solution over a week, and seem adequately preserved. I had enough solution left to do a second batch.
