- this is one option for lubricating one's ear. it helps to seften ear wax which aids in it's removal. your ears are designed in such a way that they naturally will move the ear wax out, gradually, about as quickly as your fingernails grow. Q-tips should only be used in the parts of the ear that someone standing next to you can see if they are looking into your ear. if you have excessive earwax, then treat with a softener, massage the base of your ear, and allow to drain, or use a suction devise. shoving a swab into your ear can cause your earwax to become compacted and form a blockage that only your Dr. should remove. using a lubricant like this is a great way to prevent water from getting into your ear. gently warm the oil, and use a dropper to drip the warmed oil into your ear and massage into the ear canal before swimming, bathing, etc... someone that is prone to ear infections could use this oil mixed with some antibiotic ointment.by JenniferV20031/1/2016Was this answer helpful?
