Great heater for average sized rooms/smaller apts!

I borrowed this heater last winter from my roommates to help aid in heating my 9'x12' bedroom, since the central heat doesn't quite make it up to the second floor very well, and it did a great job. When the room was cold, I would aim the heater at me and it did a wonderful job of keeping me comfortable until the entire room heated up, which took maybe 20-30 mins. The force of the air is not too extreme, but flows gently and quietly. When I realized my roommies needed the heater back, since it's now a year later in October and starting to get cold again, I went out the same day and got the exact same unit because I know it's reliable and works well for me. I wasn't able to pinpoint a dollar amount difference in the electric bill because my electricity generally increases during the winter months anyway. I also noticed that the energy efficient version of this heater got horrible reviews, so don't go for the one (model# HZ860). I expect this unit to last me several years, as you never know when it will come in handy!

I bought this to heat a 15 x 15 master bedroom. The bedroom is on the corner of the house, and is always 3-5 degrees colder than the rest of the house in winter, even with the central heat running. I bought it to replace a very small heater that was noisy and struggled to keep the bedroom warm. This heater is great. The vertical design is very smart, allowing the unit to be placed on the floor against a wall, but directing the heat up, with minimal hot surfaces on the unit. It pumps out plenty of warm air and warms my bedroom by 3 degrees in just a few minutes. And best of all, the low setting is relatively quiet. The fan runs slow and smooth, so it doesn't wake me up at night. The first unit I bought worked fine for a few hours, but after one full evening of use, the fan started to rattle every time it turned on. I called the product support number, they confirmed it was defective, and I returned it to WalMart and got a new one. The new one has been running for a week and is still nice and quiet. Since I now know the fan isn't the best quality, I bought the WalMart extended service contract for $5.

I have a crawling, almost walking baby in the house so I needed a safe space heater for the living room/dining room. This space heater is amazing. It easily heats our living room/dining room - approx. size 23 ft. x 11 ft. - (the design definitely allows for the heat to circulate throughout the entire room), and I don't even have the temp. on the space heater turned all the way up. It's currently 37 degrees outside & our house is drafty. This heater is doing an amazing job. Great investment. On HIGH, the heater is pretty quiet (think white noise or a fan on low-med.) The grate (where the heat comes out) does get hot but it's not a "burn your skin off" hot like my old, unsafe space heater. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent heater for RV

We live fulltime in our RV and bought the large heater a yr ago to use instead of using our propane. It kept our 32' TT very warm. We have since moved into a 37' 5th wheel and just went through our 1st snow storm. Our propane ran out at 2 am, so no heat from the heater just this. The lowest outside temp. was 18 degrees and the inside temp stayed consistant at 60 degrees for over 7 hrs. Our granddaughter was 2 when we bought this and I don't have to worry about her getting burned or putting her fingers where they don't belong because the holes are to small for her little fingers & the heat coming out is not so hot as to burn her. We run it 24/7 thoughout the winter months and have had no problems. We will be purchasing the smaller one to use in the bedroom.

This heater is excellent for it's size. I use it in a 13x13 room that is always so much colder than the rest of the house. The room is not insulated well. But with this heater, it has kept the room at a nice tempature. Granted the lowest it's been this year here was in the 20's, but I kept it on the lower setting and it did a great job. I own 2 other heaters that are oil filled, but I am thinking of replacing them with this product.

I have had lots of 110volt heathers . but this one moves the heat around the room. it does what 3 of the other ones cant do. and it don't take as long to warm the room. well two rooms I put in in the bath room and point it out into the bed room. and it heats both rooms fast. I don't know about the energy efficiency yet I have only had it about 3 weeks but it cant cost as much as running 3 and not getting warm.

Heater works well but only in a clean room environment. has a sealed fan and after a short time if fan gathers dust the heater no longer blows out. I becomes something like a radiator heater. Used it for 4 months and had to replace it

Started last winter with this heater and has worked well, is still working now.Very Low noise fan, Low-HI settings. Dose what it states. Heats the avg "room" fast, but with some time 30+mins it makes "rooms" fill worm. I dont think its enough power for rooms over 300sqft if googel and I did the math right. I use it for bedrooms and shut the door.

Works well as supplemental heat

This unit works pretty well as supplemental heat in a large room and performs fairly well as primary heat in a smaller space. We used this unit in a bedroom while having ductwork repaired and although it took a while to handle the larger area (about 600sf), the unit did eventually warm the master bedroom and bath area considerably. The until relies on convection heat and will warm even fairly large spaces over time if there is limited air exchange with other areas. I imagine that if this unit were used in an area where there is a constant exchange of air it would be less effective. Overall this unit is very good for what anyone could expect from a small heater - certainly significantly better than those old style heaters with the glowing coils and the small blower in a box that many of us grew up with.

Pros: - I've ran the heater all day and night and it's never overheated - Heater never felt hot to the touch CONS (READ!!) - This product was advertised for a LARGE ROOM. My living room isn't big at all and this thing never got the temperature up. It was 40 degrees outside and house was 55. Didn't go up one degree after an hour of running on high. - Draws a lot of power and does horrible job for large rooms. Probably won't save money on utility bills and you're better off using gas heater. This thing is very solid in terms of durability in the few months that I've used it running up to 10 continuous hours a day, but will not get a large room warm. I have this in my master bedroom (medium sized) and it works okay but in smaller rooms it works great. If it was advertised for a small room I would've given it 4 stars. Really I wanted to give it 2 stars; I just added an extra one cause it was solidly built

  • A. Yes. My little apartment is almost fully carpeted & I use mine in the front room. It's often placed on a far wall so the circular effect of the fan works as it should. The heater doesn't actually get hot, so there is no problem with it being on the carpet & it does turn off automatically should it fall over. All pluses for this little guy.

  • A. The packaging states large room or whole home. It never mentions square footage. It warms well in average sized closed door rooms and open areas may take alittle longer. Again it depends on how cold the temperature along with the square footage.

I know that doesn't exactly answer your question but since they don't specify (on the box) the space it heats, maybe my answer will give you an idea.
