This looks great, and you don't have to see the litter box! It's also a lot cheaper than other litter box hideaways that you can find. It was also very easy to put together. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something like this.

When I saw this in Wal-Mart a month ago, I was so thrilled. I thought it was the neatest, cutest pet house. I bought it for my Bichon Frise. He loves it. He goes in it all the time and sleeps in it. It is in my living room right now and I am buying another one for the other side, plus 2 white ones for my bedroom. I love how stylish it looks and the color is nice. It looks much more higher quality than it is. I'm not saying that it's bad quality, but the wood isn't as thick as I imagined it to be. However, it's strong enough to hold a nice big sized lamp. It's very attractive. I highly recommend it.

We have limited space so the cat box has always been off the kitchen in a small out cove. This house is perfect, we spray painted it glossy black to match our kitchen appliances. It looks great like furniture, and the cat loves it. PURRFECT...

I bought this kitty house with the intention to house a litter box for my cats. The house is well constructed and was super easy to put together. The finish is very nice and goes well with my office furniture. It is not cheap looking and there weren't any blemishes. I bought this in the store for $46. Using it as a litter box house didn't work for me though. I have a neurologic cat (15lb) that has difficulty moving around in a litter box. He needs a huge box (40 gal storage box) in order to not step in his #2 after going. The size of the box is just too small for him to maneuver around but the other cats did well. I instead put a soft furry bed inside. There is always someone or two inside the house. It's positioned under the window, so my cats also take advantage of sitting on top of it to look out the window. My advice is to find a litter box insert with very high sides. If your kitty doesn't squat to go #1, it hits the side of the walls and runs out the floor of the box out the door. It's a very nice product.

I just moved into a house, and there really was no good place to put the cat litterbox without having a gross eye sore to everyone that came. In addition to this, our dog was starting to eat from the litter box. I bought this, and was skeptical at first. My cats are pretty chubby, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because, after moving 8 times I came to realize my cats adapt so well. Well this was no exception. It took me about 40 minutes to put together by myself. The first week or so, just to be safe, I left the front door open so that they knew where the litterbox was. Finally, I shut the hatch and hoped they would use it. My tom cat is about 17 lbs, and my other kitty is about 13. They do just fine in this!!! I am so happy because now, you would have no idea where the litterbox is!!! On top of that, you can't smell it unless you haven't cleaned it in a long time. So I guess the only thing bad about this is that you actually will forget you own a litter box and might forget to clean it. Once one of the cats missed the litterbox ever since I bought this box...and they never have missed the litter box before so either they were just having a bad day or they couldn't position well that time being in it. All in all, I am completely happy with this purchase and am thinking about getting another similar to this, only bigger to put in a different room so I can put their food on top and have 2 boxes. As for the dog eating out of the litterbox, it didn't completely solve it. He would use his paws and reach for the litter. So as a fix I have the front of the door basically facing a wall, so he can't fit in front of it.

    • A. Other reviewers say their cats kick out litter, but mine doesn't seem to do this. Depends on how messy your cat is to begin with. The hole isn't very high once you factor in a few inches of litter that kitty will be standing on, so if your cat is a kicker, it will get messy. You also can't get a super high sided litter box as it will block the entrance for your cat. I use a PureNess Large Cat Litter Pan from Walmart and it's even with the bottom of the hole. This is a link to the exact pan I bought: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Van-Ness-Large-Cat-Litter-Pan-1ct-Cats/10315195

    • A. It does a good job of controlling the amount of litter that tracks in and out off most litter boxes. I use the pine shaving stuff, notorious for getting everywhere and I am finding this box has greatly reduce the amount of litter being tracked. I would still use a litter mat outside if you want to reduce it even more.

    • A. I don't think it would hold up to long out in the weather. It is made of I believe press board so it would not last long out side. It does look very nice, like a nice end table if you want to use it inside.

    • A. The box is made of painted wood and while relatively sturdy (I have stored 2 - 42lb bags of clean litter on top of mine) will show signs of the elements. A covered porch may work fine but continued exposure to moisture will likely result in warp and decay.

    • A. No, I would say not. I don't think it would withstand rain at all. If you don't have to worry about rain or snow then maybe it would. Keep in mind that the material this is made of is quite thin & most likely "cork" not real sturdy wood.

    • A. You certainly could put it outside, but I don't think it would last very long. Also, there are big holes in the back for ventilation so I am sure that rain and snow would get inside.
