    Happy with my purifier

    Customer review by Luckylo

This is the first time I used a purifier. I got the purifier as a sample to test and give my opinion. When I got it out of the box I was surprised how light it is. I have dogs and a cat and I thought the best place to test this purifier is my bedroom. I wake up sometimes with a stuffy nose and dry mouth. The purifier has a 3 speed setting. High was to noisy for my husband, medium and low are just fine, then the purifier has a separate switch to turn on the ionizer, I keep mine on all night. Really love that the purifier has a filer service indicator this helps me not to forget to clean/change the filter. After running the purifier all day the air seems fresher. After using my purifier now for a few days even my husband says that he is sleeping better, no stuffy nose in the morning. I turned the purifier off for 1 day and we both had a stuffy nose in the morning, this tells me that my little purifier is doing his job cleaning the air in my bedroom. I can recommend this purifier and I know the purifier will not leave my bedroom.

    Great product - Great price

This is such a great little machine! It is very small and lightweight. It has a carrying handle so it is easy to move it from room to room. It isn't silent, but it isn't any louder than a fan. In fact, it is like a "white noise" machine and masks other noises while you sleep. My home is unusually dusty, no matter what I've tried I haven't been able to control the dust. I put this purifier in a southern facing room because the dust is visible in the air on sunny days! Within 2 days of use, the air in the room was visibly cleaner. The purifier has a replaceable filter, which slides in and out easily. Again, within 2 days I could see dust already caught in the filter. I was shopping for a whole house purifier when I received this one for me to test and review. This air purifier worked so well for me, I ordered 4 more so that I can have them all over the house. I prefer it to a whole house model because it is small and lightweight enough to be easily moved, it is inexpensive and I know it works great! I highly recommend this air purifier.

Holmesw Aer1 Mini Tower Air Purifier - Wow!

I was chosen to get the Holmes AER1 as a free product to review. How lucky it turned out to be! I thought it would be bulky and complicated to put together but not at all. You just open the box and plug it in. Well that was easy. But the best part was that both myself and my husband were totally amazed at how wonderful it works. We are using it in our bedroom at night. After the first night we both had the same reaction - "Wow". The air was cool and clean. If there is any draw backs to this little miracle, it is that on the highest speed it is a little loud. I think it is well worth the cost and you will be very happy with your purchase.

Nobody says much about this units ability to make the air cleaner....that's what I am interested in....not the noise level & etc, Is it worth the money....does it really clean the air & how do you come to this conclusion? And are you giving it a good rating because you got it for free?

    • I bought the Holmes AER1 Mini Tower Air Purifier several weeks ago, and this is the second one I have owned. Addressing the air cleaning quality only, it is excellent. I smoke in my bedroom and it totally eliminates any smoke odor and I have no tar buildup on any furniture or walls. It greatly minimizes the amount of dust I can see, and my bed linen always smells clean.

    • I had to go out and purchase my product at a local Walmart store. I'm a little disappointed because I thought that the product was desgined out of the box to remove allergens and pollutants from the air. After carefully reviewing the Owner's Guide I noticed that it comes with a free one which is good to remove dust. However, you would have to purchase another filter if you want the device to remove any other particules such as allergens. I'm still debating if I'm going to return mine to the store or not and purchase one that can do it all without me having to spend more money.

    • Redheeler, I don't smoke but I do use it in a lower level basement office in my home. I know when I turn it on for an hour and close the door, when I come back the room smells completely different than the rest of the basement....very fresh like after a rainstorm instead of that basement scent. I am not a scientist so I have to go by the company's claims but I do see a difference when I use it. I can only share my own personal experience.

    • it does make noise but it's not loud. This unit works well in a small room. I am using it in a room that is 8x9. I am using the larger version in it in a room that is 10x18. Both units work very well. The unit has a replaceable HEPA filter in it. When the filter becomes dirty, you can replace it. The filter should last according to the thing for a few months. I checked the filter on mine and it doesn't look dirty yet. The air smells cleaner and my son is no longer constantly sneezing from allergens.

    • I gave this a high mark because this product was versatile and perhaps more durable. I feel it is effective because I can lift it, position in various ways and take it wherever I want. This capability made a difference in the effectiveness. We have a table top rectangular older model from this brand. I do not care for it and it is fixed in place. Air flow and pulling the pollen, smoke, dust mites, etc. will work better if it reaches or extends to the source rather than just being somewhere in the region. Proximity to the person may matter also. The past allergy season was horrible and an air conditioner was not enough. Mold spores were high, pollen high, and there was a lot of dust and dirt from my activities. I also worked with chemicals like paint and other odor causing items. I will be buying the filter specifically for mold spores in the future, so I can’t say which one will be better yet. I can say my skin was better from a problem which sometimes carries into even the summer months. This is where Hepa filters for eczema sufferers will benefit. I have used the ionizer but not frequently. Backwards at full power meant really strong air flow and was better than a fan (without the ionizer on). I do not feel at the lowest level it will work as effectively and consider it for sleeping time. Burned food from the kitchen directly travels to my room and it did help but I did use the higher levels of power. I leave it on often and every day except for maybe once or twice. I do clean the needed areas to get the most out of the ability to function/same concept as cleaning air conditioners. I was going to purchase one on my own and pay more for a larger sized type and likely have looked for the rounder type. Problem for me is storage space limitations and so this is perfect. I would rather they call this a portable type and it remains categorized by me as being extremely convenient. If I traveled a lot by car, it would come right with me. If you want more air flow in a larger room without having it as close or quickly moved, then I would go for the larger size. It depends what you need it for and I left a link in the question about viruses which may help those who want to figure out what type of product they want. I can only say for me so far, it has been better than I expected. I don't know how other to answer. I feel this would be my purchase if I did not get it to test. But, I am also limited in having used newer and other types of air purifiers. The filters also matter to how effective it will be and if it is smoking, then I suggest the next filter be purchased specific to that.
