I would like to know the Thickness of the screen size of the tv, as the description makes it sound like the stand is 1.5 inches thick. please help.

  • A. The tv itself is 1.5" thick. The stand is a swivel stand thats shaped similar to an X and is probably 6-8" wide. You can remove base if you hang on wall

Is the sound quality really that terrible, or is it about on par with most flat-panel tvs? Would you say that it would be ok in a smaller living room?

  • A. I've yet to hear a flat panel TV that really impressed me with it's sound. With that being said, this Hisense has very acceptable audio. We have a fairly large living room (28'x14') and the TV audio by itself isn't an issue, although for stuff like movies and video games we usually use our home stereo system. The TV does have a user adjustable equalizer, which is nice to tweak the TV audio a bit. Like my dad used to say..."you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear" and you aren't going to get theater quality sound from speakers in a TV 1.5" thick.

First - I did not rate sound quality because I use my surround sound. I was afraid to buy this TV at first, but I finally gave in and decided to try it out. I get it home, unpack it, hang it on the wall, fire it up, and WOW! I am so glad I got this TV instead of a Sony, Samsung, or LG. The picture is astonishing, absolutely beautiful. So I browse thru the TV's menu and come across a 3D on and off setting. WHAT? So I pick up a pair of glasses from another TV, sure enough, the 3d looks better than the LG we have. Built in WiFi is awesome, picks up my signal at 100% and the router is upstairs. After spending alot of time in front of several stores' tv displays trying to figure out which one is better bang for the buck, I can say that the picture quality on this TV is just as good as any of the top brands. Now I only use 1080p hardware, xbox360, blu-ray, and ps3, so this review is strictly for the 1080p functionality. If this is all you use also, this is a super great buy, so do not hesitate.

I researched and I knew what I wanted in my new T.V. and I searched for the "best deal". I had not ever heard of this brand before and honestly, the price attracted me. Once I brought the tv home and hooked it all up, WOW!!!! I was so impressed with it, I could not believe I had got what I got for what I paid. The picture is awesome! It's LED bonus! It's 3-D. The sound could be louder, doesnt go to loud. The kids are able to go to facebook, you tube, all the stuff they want to see, and it is so so beautiful! It looks like you spent a ton of money! The clear frame on it makes for a classier look!! I just love it. Everyone that comes to my house can not believe how nice it is. I would give this brand chance you too will be impressed!!! You can hook up to everything to it and it makes installing easy! The area where the wires plug in are easy to tell what goes where and everything is easy to figure out! Once you play with it and find out all that you can do, you won't be disappointed!!!!

I don't care what anyone says. This is a great deal! I was looking at 46" to 55" LED HDTV's for weeks. Talked to a bunch of sales people about HDTV's till I just didn't want to hear about 1080 HDTV's anymore. lol Then I came across this one. I asked the sales associate whats is the price on this? When he said $825.00 I was like SOLD. I got this on 1/17/12 So now its $848.00 lol Still a great deal. You get a 90 day store warranty with it from Walmart. Then one year from the manufacturer. So for $99.00 the 3 year service plan from Walmart is money well spent. Its 1080p and 120hz and 3D and it is internet ready. WOW what a great deal. From all the other brands I looked at. They all start at $1200 and up. The only thing I didn't like about this TV was the sound. But after resetting the equalizer setting it sounds good. Put my Blue-ray player on it. WOW it is out of this world. If you see one at the store and you have the money to spend. GET IT. You won't be sorry.

I saw this TV on the Walmart flyer and decided to take it home for the features, and the great price. Actually I got it for $848, not $825 like the other lucky guys. Since it is now sitting in my living room, I would share my thought about it. Great high end design, such a thin design, less than 1 inch, very light I can carry it by myself. My old 37" tube TV took 3 of us to throw it away. Swivel stand make me easier to hood the cables change the direction when I am doing something in the kitchen. The picture is great, bright and excellent color, I do not see it any worse than any TV I have seen before. The sound is good, but I am using my Bose V21 5.1 channel speakers, works together well. Wow, I found it is a 3D TV which I did not expect when I bought it. I called the 800 number in the manual, they have the 3D glasses on sale for $29.99, the other one I saw on walmart.com is $77.88, so I bought 4 of them for my family. My friend stopped by since I called him, and he has bought one for himself already!! Just love it!

My husband and I bought this tv yesterday and are very impressed!!!! We have absolutely no complaints!! We didn't even realize it was a 3D tv until today when we sat down and looked over the book, because it doesn't say anything on the box about being 3D. It doesn't come with 3D glasses so that is going to cost about $300 extra if we want them. We weren't expecting such a high quality product for the price ($848). Walmart didn't have any out on display so we couldn't look at the picture or anything before we bought it. We knew that it was risky since we had NEVER heard of this brand, but figured that it was worth the risk. We decided to go ahead and try it out........and are so happy we did. The picture quality is amazing.....we do have HD Cable so that might make a difference, idk? We also have it hooked up with gold plated HDMI cords. We would recommend this tv to anyone who wants a great tv at a great price.

First off My husband and i didn't even consider buying this Tv because we did not recognize the brand name, So we purchased a Sanyo 55" tv for cheaper, and no additional features to it. Later found out that the Sanyo was not compatible with the xbox360. We quickly returned the Sanyo and after reading the reviews and doing our research on Hisense, we gave it a shot. I am seriously impressed! it is above what i expected for the price! This TV does have a 3D mode, but its not advertised or even on the box as being a 3D tv! It does not come with glasses but is most definitely a 3D TV! I Love this TV and could not be a better tv for the price! My only complaint is the sound quality but with a surround sound you can make up for the sound quality.

PS3/PC Users Look Here
2/18/2012

With PS3 and PC games this TV looks great, The sound isn't as wonderful but it's obvious it would prob sound better mounted on a wall since the speakers are on the back. Netflix through the PS3 was a flop due to the picture shaking back and forth on the screen during any motion. However on a PC or through the built in wireless connection it plays just like it should an also looks great. I can only assume that it has something to due with refresh rate which can't be adjusted on the TV itself. If there is a setting I haven't found it yet. The menu is very basic with only two options that I've never seen before that don't seem to change anything either. The 5ft HDMI cord caused some contoller lag on the PS3 but was easily corrected by putting on a 3ft cord. I read some other reviews of how Xbox users were having the shaky screen problem while playing games. The only advice I can give you since I don't own an Xbox is next time, DON'T BUY JUNK!

As long as your watching the news or Dr. OZ. Simply because it is not a 120 hz refresh rate. It says on the box that it is a 120 hz but the manual clearly states that it is only 60 hz. The picture is the best you will ever see as long as your not watching sports, gaming, or a fast action movie, the sound is very poor but got better when I hooked the HDMI cable. the features were great easy to hook up to wireless internet (5 mins tops). Also it doesn't say on the box but it is a 3D TV I didn't get a chance to use that feature though. The price is very good. My taste in movies and the fun of gaming and the love of sports in this TV made my life one big BLUR !!!!! And I cant just sat there and watch a BLURRY TV. So after 8 days I carried the TV back yesterday sorry HISENSE I tried. Its ashamed that you cant see the manual before purchasing a TV because it read that this TV was only 60 hz and that it was A 3D TV and the box did not reflect neither of these.

Customer review by JoeFromWNY

I fretted all weekend looking for the best current TV deals, I'm having people over for the Super Bowl and wanted something better than my old tv. I saw this on sale and after seeing some strange reviews and inconsistent descriptions from very few sources it looked like a gamble worth taking (only because of Walmart's ridiculously easy returns) I wanted to write this review because the other one does not give this TV its due. The television is great, regardless of price, it's a higher end, cutting edge TV, no question. It's physically impressive, the TV is only 1.5 inches thin, and if you look in the vents, seems like it could have been even thinner. The port inputs are sunk in and plug in sideways, routing cables shouldn't be a problem wall mounted. It's light for a 55in TV, about 45 pounds. The stand it comes with is heavy metal, four legs and chromed, about 28"x13". I have it on a built-in entertainment center/shelves. It has a glossy 2" frame, mostly black with about a quarter inch clear acrylic overhang, and a gray metal section across the bottom with a couple speaker vents and touch-sensitive buttons. The on-tv buttons have a loud "system beep" sound for each press (even volume), that's annoying, my toddler found this out immediately, so now there's scotch tape over the buttons. Hisense, please get a firmware update out so I can turn off those beeps and/or turn on a child lock. The remote is nothing special, works well, comes with batteries. There's a quick reference card that has the program codes for cable and satellite provided universal remotes, its also in the large manual. The picture is fantastic, the contrast is great, its bright, and has vibrant colors. The "pixelation" that the other reviewer notes is from converting lower content to 1080p, which is all cable and most satellite channels (I called time warner, full 1080p cable boxes/dvrs have no ETA as of 1/29/12). There's an option for reduced noise in the menu, that helps a little. When you give the TV full 1080p signal from a bluray, streaming movie, or game system (PS3 or 360) it's beautiful, no pixelation and I believe it can stand side by side with the best from samsung or LG. It has a built in wifi receiver, just a couple apps, netflix, vudu, "vudu apps", connected media, and a "normal" opera web browser, but no flash or html5 support. Very odd, so I'll be trying different ways of getting it to do what I want. The sound is average, not bad. The other reviewer said it only has 3.5mm jack, that's for headphones, says in the manual. It has a digital sound out connection, which supports 5.1 surround sound. The color of that cable is orange. Any RCA cable could work, but the thicker 75 ohm rated cables work best. Many video(yellow end) cables are rated that. If you want the best sound you should be sending it straight to a receiver anyway so the speakers on the TV never come into play. Yes, it is also 3D, doesn't say that on the box, but it's clear in the manual, remote, and menu options. Seems like they are compatable with LG IR synced activeshutter 3d glasses. I haven't gotten glasses yet to try. This is just my second day with it, I was actually the first person to buy it from my Walmart. Just like the other guy, a manager needed to come over and force the transaction through the register. Researching this TV and the company has been... interesting.

Great For Price

Customer review by Hendren

Out of the box I thought the picture quality was terrible and almost took it back. There was a lot of screen door effect, image was jerky, color was way off. If this is the case for you don't take it back just yet, the pixilation and screen door affect got much better after the TV was on for about a day. I fixed the fake looking jerky image by going to advanced video setting and turning off the 120Hz smooth motion, helped tremendously. First I turned it all the way up for a while and noticed it was worse, and then I turned it off and eureka much better. I'll list my setting now and when I finally get my movie with the THX optimizer I'll post those too. Brightness: 55 Contrast: 40 Color: 50 Sharpness: 0 if you’re watching HiDef shouldn't really need this Advanced Video Color Temperature: Cool Noise Reduction: High, though not really sure what this helped 120Hz Smooth Motion: Off Overscan: Off Cons: Sound is weak and not the greatest. Audio out-put, only digital audio and headphone, there is no RCA out-put so if your surround sound doesn't have digital, you will be buying a converter like me.
