not worth the money! after about 2 weeks, the product started to malfunction, shocking my dog in random places in the yard not even close to the perimeter. It made him fearful of coming out of his house. He had already learned to stay away from the flags, but it was sheer torture for him to receive shocks in the middle of the property for no reason. He ran around in circles, afraid to move. Before that started happening, we thought it was wonderful. 03/13/2012
NOT a Deterrent Our 3 year old Lab/Blue Heeler mix barely noticed this collar and it did not stop him at all. We put it up around the fence line of our already fenced yard because he is very active and jumps the fence. He is a medium size dog with short hair so there was no issue with the collar making contact on his skin. We had to turn the perimeter setting down extremely low because otherwise it beeped warnings from the middle of the yard.When confronted with the “barrier” portion, he had no qualms about running right through it to get out with only the slightest flinch to indicate he was aware of the collar. Once through the barrier, he didn’t want to return back to the yard but it offered no incentive to make him stay inside the yard.This product may be effective on a smaller or more timid dog but I wouldn’t recommend it for a stubborn dog like ours. We just ended up taking everything up and returning it. Maybe I will have luck locating a more powerful version that will work better. 03/22/2012
with reservations For the price it's alright. Positives: can expand width of electric field. negatives: cannot increase level of intensity, only one setting. This might work for smaller dogs or very short haired ones. Conducted two weeks of training before we allowed the dog free rein. Our 9 month old Australian cattle dog was only bothered by the zap when on a leash. once loose he would stand over the wire and allow the zap to go on and on. Almost as though he was trying to see how long he could bear it. He's 43 pounds. I wouldn't buy again unless I had a smaller dog. I wish the transmitter allowed more zapping power that can be adjusted. 03/22/2012
this works great, less expensive than others. the only drawback I have found is that it's hard to adjust the plastic collar around dogs neck. Otherwise Great 03/09/2012
