The 18' Round Heritage Solar Pool Blanket helps to maintain the temperature of your swimming pool. This solar pool blanket will allow you to cut down on electricity usage, which will reduce your bill as well. The shape is an exact circle, with an 18' diameter. This round pool solar cover fits well on rigid pole pools. It functions equally well with above-ground and in-ground varieties. The seams are welded for better durability. When covering a pool, this blanket increases the water temperature and reduces the overnight heat loss. This above ground 18' pool solar cover is extra useful during winter, because that's when pools spend less time in use, and you want to keep leaves and other detritus from falling in. The solar blanket prevents evaporation and keeps the pool clean.

  • A. You know honestly I would get the 18' and cut it to the size you need. This is just quality bubble wrap with some sort of backing on one side so scissors or a utility knife should work just fine. I really recommend cutting to size just because these blankets work best when it's flat on the water. It also helps keep them from getting blown around. So yes you could use the 18' just fine.

  • A. absolutely, just stretch the cover over the pool surface and trim it to size, otherwise you will have wrinkles in the cover and wind may get under it and blow the cover off

  • A. Always face the bubbles down into the water when putting your solar cover on. Those bubbles heat up from the sun and transfer the heat into your pool water.

  • A. I've had both the air filled and rigid pole pools. Both work great with this cover because it sits directly on the water- we have extremely high winds here for two months on end and it never blows off. The debris cover that came with it was just terrible- ripped first year- blew off constantly- always getting stucked under the water. This cover if you put it on keep your water level where recommended you shouldn't have any problems.

  • A. I have a ring pool with this cover. I didn't even cut it to size- just tucked the extra length under the ring- and it stays put. In heavy wind it will move over about a foot, but has never blown off in even the worst storms.

  • A. the cover will be a little bit bigger than the pool surface so you need to stretch it out and trim the cover so it lays flat on the water w/o and wrinkles. If you do that the wind should not be able to get under the cover to blow it off.

Just what I needed for my 18' Intex pool!

It is lightweight It is also a great pool cover to reduce debri You can cover half the pool and it still works great The price is great Follow instructions and keep it clean after use to keep sharper debri from being pushed into the cover ( I have 3 trees around my pool) I also had my trees trimmed to reduce debri, and with this cover, it has worked a miracle. Yes, it does warm the pool to some degree, but half of my pool is in shade, and I also turn it over to the smooth side to not heat the pool as much...I like it cool since I live in Texas. I have had zero problems with my Intex pool, but I change the filters regularly, I have a vaccum, and I do daily maintenance and I have the water checked by Crown Pools (free) You must have a cover of some kind to control debri, the filter cannot do it alone, or top skimmers--- this cover completes my pool maintenance and has reduced debri so much that maintaining my pool is enjoyable. Some people trim their cover, I have not yet, as it does hang over the edges and the wind did not even blow it off. Even if you only cover half your pool with this, it will still help. I am after this cover for debri control mainly, warming the pool is secondary to me in August. My pool is Salt Water System, and I have had it now 11 weeks, since July 1st.

I see a lot of reviews stating the 15' cover will work fine. However that is only if you have the inflatable ring pools. Those pools surface area is a lot closer to 15'. The more popular rigid pole pools that stand straight up are truly 18' across so this 18' solar blanket is necessary. I had a solar cover in the past that was square- talk about a pain we had to chop it ourselves. This one however, comes 18' in a circle and it's great. I've always been a huge fan of solar covers- they float so easy along the water and you can put it on yourself no need for help! Use the white plastic it comes with to lay down on the ground- it keeps the cover from getting dirt all over it- fantastic thanks! Our pool gets plenty of sun but always cools at night so a huge recommendation to ANYONE trying to warm their pool is that it's a MUST to leave this on all night. In fact any cover what so ever should be left on at night. No solar blanket or solar fish will work at all if you let the water cool overnight so be smart and leave it covered. We sometimes have our water skyrocket to 87 plus degrees so we often take it off in the morning and only use it overnight. I know it's crazy but honestly solar blanket or not- I'd use this as a cover for it's ease of use and to keep the dirt out.

This solar cover is a must! It really helps bring the temperature up quickly and keeps the water warm during the cold. It also cuts way down on evaporation and keeps the pool cleaner. ONE THING THOUGH, if you bought it to cover an 18' round intex pool, this cover is TOO BIG, this year I bought a 15' cover and it fits my 18' by 48' round pool perfectly.

I bought this cover for an 18 foot Intex Easy Set pool. It is way too big for this type of pool. I have read other reviews that recommend buying the solar cover for a 15 foot round to fit this type of pool. I decided to keep it because I hate the hassle of returns. I will most likely buy the smaller one next year. Overall, it is helpful. It takes a few days to get to the full effect though. The top few inches are the warmest and with some movement in the pool, the heat moves around more evenly. We are in the middle of a heat wave and it is has been 100 degrees out and with the solar cover, the pool has been getting up to 88 degrees which is really comfortable. It seems to be sturdy and well made. It is heavy enough that I don't have any fear of it blowing off the pool. Quite easy to slide on. I can do it on my own but easier to get on with 2 people. I thought it was a little pricey, but Walmart seemed to be the best deal. Other than the size, I am very happy with this product.

Solar Blanket
7/9/2010

Customer review by Echinacea

5.0 stars 7/9/2010 by Echinacea

This solar blanket looked different to me than pictured online. I thought it was a cloth type of material that was a little more substantial. Turns out, it's essentially blue bubble wrap. It does seem to make a difference with the pool's temperature. We had to buy the 18 foot and cut it down to our 16 foot pool size. That was easy in that I folded the "blanket" in half, then quartered, and so on. I measured 8 feet from the center point of the blanket, then started cutting. I then measured from the edge, to figure out the exact amount I needed to cut off from the outer edge. This figure was more helpful because I moved the measuring tape along and simply continued cutting. They do recommend cutting it larger first, then placing it on the pool, then cutting again if necessary. When I put it on the pool (and by the way, it is only supposed to lay on the surface of the water, not drape over the edges), I found it fairly easy to trim to the exact dimensions, while my husband was providing some tension on the opposite side. When I was trimming, I held the scissors vertically, with my thumb up toward the sky, and flat to the inside wall of the pool. This achieved a nice tight cut to the pool's dimensions.
