I would recommend this to anyone that has bought a pool from Walmart. It has helped so much to warm up our water. It really only takes a nice sunny day and the water is so comfortable that we have no problem swimming even after the sun goes down. The only thing I would recommend is that if you have the 16 foot pool don't buy the larger blanket. This one was big enough, and we still had to cut some of it off. We then bought some PVC pipe put 3 hooks in the pipe and 3 eyeletts in the blanket and now we just roll it up and put it on some hooks on our fence. Super easy to use this way.

This heritage solar blanket is wonderful. It heated up the pool to 90 degrees in just a few hours and keeps it that warm. We had bought a 16x48 Intex pool and it fits perfectly. So glad I bought this blanket.

  • it should. our pool was on the north side of our house. it raised the temp to the outside temp. our pool was warmer than it had been all summer after we used this product.

  • its a solar cover so it really needs the sun to help warm it up, since the temp is around 90 even with the cover on it'll still help keep the heat in it but the more sun it gets on it the warmer the water will get.

  • It is better if the sun hits it...also, the cover is suppose to hold in the heat that the pool usually looses overnight too.

  • our pool is half shaded by a tree and this still warms the water enough that we get right in the pool.

  • It will help heat it a little bit and it will keep the heat that you do have in when the pool is not in use. However you would get the best results if your pool got more sunlight.

  • Although it is best to have full sun on the blanket, you should be able to see a slight difference in temperature even with a little sun. It also helps keep the heat in the pool overnight and helps with evaporation and chemical loss. It is more than just a solar blanket. I think you will be satisfied if you purchase it.

  • My yard is in the shade also. I get half of my pool is the sun for about 2 hours in the early morning and 2 hours in the evening, and it has raised my temperature about 6 degrees.

  • I think this thing keep the temperature from escaping during the night so logically I believe your pool temperature should raise. Another use for this blanket is to replace the original cover. It is thicker which make it easier to put on and to remove.

  • Unfortunately, I don't believe so. Sun is what heats up the pool and this, seems to just keep the heat in at night.

  • I doubt it. The sun is what heats the solar blanket, not the temperature.

  • You need to have the bubble side down on the water with the blue side up. The bubbles are what cause the heat from the sun to radiate into the water

  • It didn't come with any instruction; But I left the bubble side down because of my four small kids. If not they would be tempted to pop all of them! But, it just worked in my case. My wife hates cold water and she love it now.

  • I have a 16 too, & this works fine. It has maybe an inch or two around the outside edge that is not covered. Depending on exactly what you want to use it for. Mine works great at keeping the pool at a comfortable temp. it also helps keep the if debris out too however some still will slip in through the outside edges.

    by CochranCrew7/13/2010

  • We have the 16ft and you want the 15ft blanket. You will still need to cut some off so that your blanket will lay flat.
    by Gobeagirl7/8/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
  • You cut this product to size. So you can buy one that is slightly bigger and cut it down to size.

  • The 15' blanket completely cover my 15' pool with enough extra material over the entire inflatable rim. I run a cloth dry line around the entire rim and tuck this thing in there. The 16' diameter isn't that much larger than my 15' so I think it should cover that as well.
    by KevinDo20207/1/2010

  • This will fit it. Ours is 15 foot and there is easily 6 inches all the way around it. I initially thought I bought the wrong size because it goes up the sides of the pool, with yours it would just lay flat on the surface with no extra material on the sides. I think it would work well for you.
    by Riljackad6/30/2010
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
  • Just get an 18 and cut to fit.
