Good pump on a pinch

Customer review by jbocaneg

Recently, I was in a jam because my Little Giant decided to stop working after about a year and a half of usage and I needed a pump badly. I saw this pump and based on the price decided to give it a chance. It works great. You can't beat it for the price. It moves the water adequately but the placement of the output hose in the top of the pump makes it difficult to stay on its rubber feet. Just lay in it on its side and problem solved. Good alternative to a more expensive one and if breaks no great loss.

500 gal/hr might be a little ambitous

This little pump works like a champ but 500 gal/hr might be a stretch. It is simple to use and let's face it, it's a lot better than using a garden hose and getting mouthfuls of dirty pool water!

Do I have to shut it on and off to use it or does the cover pump activate itself when the cover gets enough water on it and then shuts itself off when the level drops enought?
by Polydiatonic 7/6/2010
  • Not according to the instructions.

  • Must be done manually..plug it in when needed. I do not recommend this "pump".

  • No pump starts as soon as you plug t in, and stops when you unplug it.

  • No this pump does not shut off. Submerging it in the water is what keeps the pump from overheating. But you can start the suction with the pump to get the water moving then unplug. Will continue to drain because primed with the pump.

  • Follow directions carefully. You have to shut the pump off manually and start it manually.

  • Not automatic. Plug it in, it turns on. Pull the plug, it turns off. You could plug it into a switched outlet and use the switch. If you want true automatic operation, you have to add a float switch.

  • it is not automatic, u have to get out there w/in a few to shut it off or it will damage the motor

  • The pump works as long as there is water to be siphoned out of. Once the level drops below the pump you will need to turn it off manually as it does not shut off automatically. Failure to do so can damage the pump.
