Yes the Hefty Touch Lid will remain open until you close it.

Yes, the lid does stay open until you want to close it.  It closes securely, but you just need to push a button to open it with one finger.

Yes it seals. I needed a trash can with lid so I wouldn&#39;t smell the trash and it works beautifully. I definitely would use one for dog food.

You might be able to, but I&#39;ve actually read some reviews that say Hefty will replace your lid. So contact them; they may honor a warranty, or if not then you may be able to buy directly from them. I don&#39;t think you can buy the lid separately at retail.

No, the lid does not seal on the trash can.

No, the lid doesn&#39;t have an airtight seal. I haven&#39;t noticed minor smells getting out, but for really stinky stuff you may want a can with a tighter lid.

The lid seals enough to keep odors inside, so I imagine you could use it for dog food.

It shuts well but does not seal like with a lid that goes over the top of a lip. Would not keep it fresh since not tightly sealed. The entire top does but the middle part pops up but does go down nicely and keeps smells out and etc. We really like it for our trash but use something that snaps down for dog food.

It should.  The lid fits pretty snug...at least with a bag in it.  Hope this helps!

One hand to open    lid springs up & so easy when you have something in the other hand.   My neighbor saw mine work & we went that day to get her one.

Easy open.

I bought 2 of these trash cans-one in tan and one in black. The black one we use for the kitchen trash. I like that this can is low profile, the lid pops up, and closes easily. There is just a touch of a difference in the size at the bottom and the size at the top. Most trash cans slope so that it's smaller at the bottom and wider at the top, which makes the can unstable at times. The shape works very well with using the can to store things like rolls of wrapping paper-that is what I use the tan can for.

It's a good sturdy trash can

This is a pleasant covered trash can that can be used in a kitchen and still look nice.  It is stable, and the cover is easy to open and close with one finger.  I like this design much better than foot-pedal options.
