Betta fish need SPACE. Two gallons minimum, three to five is optimal. Betta fish need HEAT. They are tropical fish. Unless you keep the room your tank is in around 80 degrees, they will not thrive or live very long. Betta fish need AIR TO BREATHE. Betta fish HATE CURRENTS. This "aquarium" is so incredibly flawed in every aspect that the very thought of it makes me feel sick. There is little room to swim, the bubbler means there will be a current throught the whole thing, and the tiny, tiny space at the top will be constantly rippling, making it hard for the fish to get air. There is no room for a heater, unless you managed to fit one under the stand. People, PLEASE research betta needs before designing things like this, and especially before buying them if you want your betta to live a long, happy, healthy life. Any betta subjected to this bowl will be lucky to live a few months.

Bettas need room and air to breathe. This thing is too small and is terrible. Do you research on Bettas before turning them into decoration for your child.

Betta fish need at least a gallon to two gallons to live happily, and even this size is not recommended as most betta keepers will advocate at least 2.5 to five gallons. It is a MYTH that bettas can live happily in really small bodies of water. While it's true that the rice paddies they originate from can dry up to only a couple inches, most of the time there is more water available, not to mention these patties are part of a natural ecosystem that is almost impossible to replicate exactly in captivity -- let alone in such a small container of water. Due to their long fins, bettas do not cope well with strong currents, and the constant bubbling can and will create a current that is very difficult for a betta to manage. In addition, bettas are labyrinth fish, meaning they NEED to breathe oxygen from the air. This is not an optional adaptation that they use; their gills cannot draw enough oxygen from the water on their own, so they need to breathe air to make up for it. With how this product is setup, it is a very real possibility that your betta will drown. Bettas are also tropical fish and need a consistent water temperature of around 78-80 degrees fahrenheit. Unless the room you are keeping your betta in is naturally warm, chances are room-temperature water will be much too cold without an additional heater, which this product obviously cannot support. I realize I reiterated a lot of what a previous reviewer mentioned, but these things really need to be known. For anyone that is considering this product, I implore you to do some research before you buy. You will find that a lot of these "fancy" products are not suited to keep a living animal, not matter what someone says.

This is awful. I could list few things wrong with this, but most of all, .42 gallons is definitely not enough for a fish of any kind. Bettas are pretty, but believe me, they are more than just a decoration. The best thing you can do is research the requirements of bettas before you buy, that way you can give them a long life. Not a terribly cold, short one... if you want your betta to live longer than a few months, please buy them a bigger tank than this, with a heater. Otherwise, don't buy the betta at all.

Bettas are tropical fish & should be in heated tanks 78-80 degrees. They originate in hot & humid Thailand. They thrive in tanks 2.5 gallons or more. Do your betta a favor and get a proper tank. Visit betta fish . Com to learnabout proper betta care!
