Rated 5 out of 5★ by TopperEllington Have Guitar Will Buy Have Guitar Will Travel, the name alone lets us know that this living legend is in it for the long haul. Pure an simple, this is straight rock and roll. Perry switches off vocal duties with Hagan, who is a german singer that Perry found online. The title track "We've Got A Long Way To Go" is a mix of old and new rock. It is definitely the single of the record. Then kicks right into "slingshot" giving up a fuzzy-riff of blues and rock.Joe's riffs are the same aerosmith sound we have grown to love. The difference is Joe is free to do what he wants without an constrains. The song "Wooden Ships" is an instrumental piece that shows fine musicianship and does not come across as show off song.A key song on the record is "Heaven and H*ll". We all know that Perry is known for being an epic songwriter but this is where is shines. It has haunting guitar licks and deep lyrics that appear all over the album (also on "Oh Lord (21 Grams)" a acoustic pipe organ piece) to help kick the devil out.The album closes with familiar early aerosmith sounding tracks. "Freedom" and "Scare the Cat" is for old and new fans to listen and rock."Have Guitar Will Travel" is a stellar release from Joe and we hope to hear more from him soon. 11/04/2009

Rated 5 out of 5★ by Rockclass09 Perry Is Back! When I first heard "We've Got A Long Way To Go" at JoePerry.com I immediately went out and bought the new album, 'Have Guitar, Will Travel'. This CD was built by Joe Perry, and it sounds like it! The classic-rock influence he brings to Aerosmith records is littered throughout this album in tracks like "Scare The Cat," and "Heaven and Hel*". With the addition of Hagen, Perry's project has captured his classic sound, and intertwined with a vocalist who brings in the "new-classic-rock" sound appearing today. I commend Joe Perry for maintaining his unique sound, while not failing to stay on the cutting edge of his genre. 11/04/2009
