My dogs have been eating the centers routinely and sometimes eat parts of the outside bone for over a year without any problem.

My dogs chew these little bones and like the flavor. They are good for a dogs teeth and keeping them healthy and strong.

I first got this size for my almost 100 lbs. She likes them. she doesn't chew on them much. But, the puppy has chewed them down to about 3 inches! She was only 6/7 months old then. now at 10 months old, they go FAST!  maybe it's her breed, Chihuahua mix. I think bulldog. IDK, that's what she looks like to me. She chews on them all the time. In the pictures, she's about 9 months old. I wish they didn't chew away so fast! 9 inch to about 3 inches in about a month and a half! In picture, this was the large bone.

My 3 yo corgi is an avid chewer. The plastic become so gnawed up and had such sharp pieces I had to throw it away before she was able to finish

This under any circumstances give  this to your dog unless he wears dentures that you can remove. In ten to fifteen minutes he had the end chewed to create sharp plastic that really be a problem! I realize dogs have a different digestive system than us but there is no way this is a safe chew for any size dog. I would not want to try and digest anything like this. Don't waste your time buying this because you will return it after you get back from the vet  hospital!

Unsafe Hartz dog chew

I would not recommend this product. I purchased this size and the extra large Chew 'n Clean as Christmas gifts for my two grand-dogs. Within an hour of chewing tiny shredds of plastic came off!

Should be recalled! Plastic comes off easily

Do not buy this if you expect your 60lb dog to chew on it. The packaging says 50 lbs but it's not a chew toy at all. My dog tore it up quick. I ended up taking it way because it wasn't strong enough to be chewed on.

Not worth the money

NOT SAFE    9 week old westie puppy had chunks from these 2 Hartz toys in the kennel.  Glad they didn't swallow them, or they'd either be dead or a hefty vet surgery.  Don't buy    i'd give it a 0 if i could

UNSAFE for puppies.

Do not recommend this at all! I just gave this to my dog and he has already chewed the plastic base and I think he ate some of the plastic. This is not a forever bone it's just plastic with a hard treat added on top. Why would a company put this out that is not safe for dogs?

Do not recommend for the safety of your pet

I have 2 med sized dogs - the treat was way too hard to come out of the plastic and the dogs began eating the plastic. I ended up taking them away and tossing as I didn't want the dogs to end up at the vet for eating plastic! NOT GOOD - I will never purchase again.

Bad - Dogs have to eat through plastic for treat.

I received this Hartz chew bone as a delivery order substitution (approved as a last resort having a new puppy who needed SOMETHING to chew ASAP).  My dogs liked this chew — I mean, it's bacon flavored so how could they not. I already tossed the packaging so I'm not sure what the bacon flavored part is made from — maybe a gelatin based edible product. The outer part of this bone seems to be made of hard plastic. It doesn't dissolve. While being chewed, this material gets very sharp twisty edges that 1) caused my dog's mouth %26 gums to bleed, %26 2) can be pulled off and ingested.  Hartz is a well-known brand that's been around for a long time so you'd think they would offer quality products that consumers can trust not to cause harm their pets. But, like most other companies, It's all about their bottom line so as long as a product sells, it'll continue to be on store shelves.  Personally, I'll no longer purchase Hartz products. I do not recommend this chew or the Hartz brand.
