Never had this problem before and was at my wit's end, re what to do about it, until a friend told me about the Harris Bed Bug Powder, so I decided to try it. Just received it a week ago, and the problem is gone already. Thank goodness, because I really couldn't afford to just chuck my almost new bedroom suite, carpet, drapes, etc. I would recommend this to anyone with a Bed Bug problem. It really works. Thank you for a good product at a reasonable price.

  • A. I had never had a bed bug problem, until I took a trip and spent a few nights in motels while traveling, so I'm sure that's probably where they came from, and it doesn't matter how clean you keep your home, you can still have a problem. They get on your clothes, or in your luggage, or even in your vehicle. They're travelers. In my research on the internet, I learned that bed bug powders are not necessarily harmful to humans, (unless you might have an allergic reaction to it) but may irritate your skin if you come in actual contact with it. (I just took a good hot shower after using the powder, in case I had any residue on my skin. I haven't had any irritating skin problems with the powder, at all). I put it in the cracks and crevices of my matress and box springs, and inside the bed frame, then put a plastic sheet over my matress and put my mattress cover back on (after washing it in hot water with a good antibactial detergent and using the hi-heat setting on my dryer for at least 20 minutes. I also learned that heat will kill bed bugs, so I washed all my blankets, sheets, etc in hot water as well and heat dried them. I have a Steam Cleaner that I used on my bedroom carpet, but a regular carpet cleaner with hot water will work as well and I made sure that I cleaned all around the baseboards. I cleaned out all my dresser and chest drawers and used some of the bedbug spray in them. When everything was dry (you don't want the powder to get wet) I sprinkled a little around the base of the bed posts and greased the bed posts with vaseline. (A tip on one of the websites that said the bugs can't climb back up the bed posts, if you grease them.) If you are afraid of damaging the bed posts, I would suggest using a good furniture oil and just redo it when it feels dry, until you get rid of the problem. It seems like a lot of work to get rid of them, but believe me, it's possible and it's worth it. After I finished with my bedroom, I treated my sofa and easy chairs and anything else that made good hiding places and cleaned all my carpets. I used the bed bug powder liberally throughout the house. After about a week, I have not seen any sign of the little pests so far. Good luck.
