After being motivated to juice from watching FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD. I decided to give this one a whirl. I am so glad I did! I was going to purchase Jack LaLanne's juicer but then went onto consumer reports and this one was rated #2. I was sceptical because there was such a big price different in the two, but I am so glad I saved my money and bought the hamilton beach one! I am very satisfied! Would highly reccomend!

I was a bit skeptical at first when I decided to purchase this juicer, but once it arrived at my home, I have not been able to let it rest! It is easy to assemble and use. I am impressed with the wide mouth because it helps to make juicing go faster than having to cut up a pear or apple before adding them. I also find this juicer relatively easy to clean as long as right after I make the juices, I rinse everything out and put the plastic pieces in the dishwasher. A little suggestion to help minimize cleanup would be to put a plastic grocery bag in the piece that collects the pulp. This way you just have to pull the bag out and toss it instead of spooning the pulp out.

I mainly want to do citrus but might do veggies. Do you have to peel citrus first? How does that work?
    by CUTLGTN 3/2/2011
    • It's okay to put lemons and limes through this model of juicer without peeling them. Orange peels, however, tend to be bitter and would affect the overall end result of the taste of your juice. So it would be best if you used only peeled oranges.

    • You can put them thu with or without the peel, depending upon your taste preference. The peels will result in a more bitter flavor.

    • Yes, you will have to peel the citrus first. It will taste awful otherwise. Tried both ways and had to throw out the unpeeled citrus.

    • You will probably want to use a reamer juicer for the citrus to get the most out of it..but you can probably run the peels through it, but be careful..it's going to be strong..so do it in small amounts.

    • The manual recommends you peel citrus to eliminate the bitter flavor. It will go through with the peel on. I recommend using a vegetable peeler to get the waxy outer peel off and leave as much of the white part underneath as you can. This should give you the vest yield for flavor, nutrients, and juice

    • Yes on juicing the oranges. However, you may want to peel them first if you don't like eating orange rinds and their seeds.

    • As far as citrus I think u need the kind of juicer that spins while u hold a halve and push down. You def want to peel any citrus because of the bitter pith( the white stuff under the colored skin(zest) it would taste nasty if u juiced all of that.together. Just look for a lemonade type juicer if that's only the type of juice your making

    • Citrus peelings have a bitter taste so I, personally, do not like them in my juice. I peel pretty much all citrus. Try to get the white stuff off as well. It will make a better juice---guarenteed!

    • Absolutely! Beets make juices sweeter and also very healthy! Carrots juice very easily---just take off the big lumpy end and any green stuff. Then stick it in---a few at a time, even!

    • This juicer ROCKS. It does not stop or freeze with denser veggies. The 800 watt motor enables it to juice anything: carrots, kale, ginger, apples, spinach, etc.

    • Yes it will juice leafy greens. It works better if you rinse the leaves off with cool water and also use the stems. Stems are where the most juice content are at.

    • yes, does an ok job, getting some juice out, but not as much as i would like. i feel like it is kinda wasteful on these things, and will eat them more than juice them, but it does work as well as any centrifugal juicer would I think. just not enough. that's ok, probably healthier to eat that stuff! -f

    • I have juiced cilantro and spinach and I think it does a good job you just hv to realize leafy greens are not that juicy, they have more fiber so don't expect a bucket load

    • I used some romaine lettuce with this juicer and it didn't seem to have a problem with it. Just be sure to go slow when adding the leafy greens so you can get the maximum juice out of them.
