Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Food Processor 3.4 5 9 10
Wonderful I have been looking for a product like this for a very long time. This machine is great. Powerful, easy to use, a real worthy addition to the home kitchen. It is very large so scone and biscuit doughs can be made in it but it is also great to use for salsas and other dishes. There are three locking areas that need to be locked before the machine will run so read the booklet very carefully and thoroughly before use. The top lock needs to be pushed down onto the handle and it takes more strength than you would think to use but it works. I gladly recommend this product! 08/18/2009
Great for veggies This product is great for solid foods, but if you have to use it for liquids forget about it. The container can only hold maybe a 1/2 inch of liquid then it leaks out all over the place. 01/08/2011
Pros- Looks great and does everything I need. Was a bit bigger than I expected but after using the food shredder for coleslaw, I appreciated the large capacity. Easy to clean.Cons- There are lots of parts to lock... good for safety I guess, but seemed to be a bit overkill. One of the many little plastic grooves used to lock it in place broke off the first day, which is the reason I gave the low durability score. This did not impact performance, however, and over all I am very happy with the product! 01/08/2011
A great big food processor My philosophy is to buy a food processor that is good value, expect it not to last too long, then get another. My previous food processor motor was OK, but the cutting blade wouldn't turn - it was as if a clutch was slipping - the slicing blade worked fine. I couldn't undo the old base easily (make your products easy to fix). This model is similar to my old one except the inside "stalk" of the bowl is wider, so I could not reuse my old bowl, whereas I could reuse the lid, top and black pusher and blades. I can see it gets more torque on the newer model. My old model failed after making pastry many times where it needed high torque. This model comes with a warning not to make pastry - too bad, but I can still use it to mix the butter and flour.I really like the style - a big bowl, good grater and slicer, room for cabbage pieces. I am glad some of the components are compatible with the older model. It's hard to know on the web exactly which model is which - there are very slight differences (message to Hamilton Beach please distinguish between model details so one knows whether it comes with a small bowl or whether the stalk is smaller or larger and whether it has the stronger motor there are some subtly different model numbers for processors that look the same and the user manual is a bit vague as to which model is which). Why this model isn't widely sold in retail stores beats me - I had to get it off the web - Walmart's web service was excellent - it came faster than I thought it would. The Walmart price was good too. It might be an idea to sell components for old food processors on your website - usually only one component fails - it would save plastics and possibly the margins are higher on components. 01/03/2011
