I first bought the GE because I liked the appearance of it much better but I ended up having to take it back because it burned the bread, even on the lowest setting.I did a lot of research before buying this toaster and since it got good reviews I thought I'd give it a try & so far so good. It browns evenly on both sides. The slots are long enough for the broader breads & wide enough for thick breads and bagels.I can't say how long this toaster will endure since I've only owned it for about a week. This seems to be a good toaster and that is something hard to find these days. 10/31/2010
