My mom was in need of a new ice cream maker. After discussing with her what my co-worker was looking for in an ice cream maker she went on the hunt with no clue she was actually choosing her own gift. She was pleasantly surprised and pleased!!!

Finally I've found an ice cream machine that really works! I had invested in two previous machines with the inner liquid within the bowl and then freezing the bowl. They both claimed to be superior than the "old fashioned" ice & salt machines, but let me tell you both "superior" machines froze the sides of my ice cream rock hard but left the center soupy. both machines seem to give out and stop churning before the ice cream was finished. But this "old fashioned" baby turned my ice cream base into creamy, rich, delicious ice cream! You'll have soft serve ice cream when the machine stops, but If you want to harden it up just place it in the freezer for a while. Rock salt is found on the baking isle at Walmart with the table salt labeled "ice cream salt"

Replaced one I bought 10 years ago, with the exact same model. Take about 40 minutes. I let it churn for 30 minutes and then put the ice cream n the freezer for the next day. Never let it churn until the ice cream is too thick that the motor will not turn it. It will bend the gears over time. Lesson learnt. But still love the product. Everyone loves the the custard based ice cream recipe that comes with it.

When I First Purchased This, I LOVED It. The Ice Cream Maker Worked Perfectly Fine And Made Amazing Ice Cream Within 20 Minutes To An Hour. I Had The Machine LESS Than 2 Weeks And It Broke. One Day While Churning Ice Cream The Machine Started To Make A VERY Loud Noise, And Mind You The Machine Is Already Loud As It Is. When I Went To Check On It I Noticed That It Kept Stalling. It Was No Longer Churning Smoothly Anymore. I Checked All Of The Individual Parts And Found Nothing Wrong As Well As The Ice Cream Batter Level Being More Than Halfway Below The Fill Line. I Ended Up Returning It And Purchasing a Different Brand. I Would ONLY Buy This If You Plan To Only Use It Rarely And Make Sure You Get The Protection Plan.

It is a very good ice cream maker. The problem is, it does not make 4 quarts, it only makes 2. Its the outer tub for the ice that is 4 quarts. Very misleading!!!

I replaced an old one I had for over 30 years with this 4 qt freezer and it is excellent. Takes about 45 to 50 minutes to freeze and you should unplug immediately when it stops!

Is the bucket plastic. How long does it take to make ice cream.

    • A. The bucket is plastic, the ice-cream canister is metal. It takes about 30 minutes to make a quart of ice-cream-, and about 45 minutes to make 2 quarts.

    • A. The ice bucket is plastic. The ice cream canister is aluminum. It takes about a half hour, depending on the temperature of the room, amount of salt you put on the ice, and the temperature of the ice cream mix.

    • A. Bucket is plastic, but the ice cream canister is metal. My batches take from :45 - 1:15 to make. Freeze time depends a lot on how much salt used with the ice - generous use of salt (within reason) is generally faster. Adding more ice and salt mid-way through can help speed it up.

    • A. Thank you for your question. Bucket for Model 68330R is plastic. Ice cream will churn for 20 to 40 minutes. Ice cream is ready when motor stops or nearly stops. Allow ice cream to harden for one to two hours. Hardening time varies with the type of ice cream as well as the air temperature.

    • A. It took us about 2 plus hours from start to finish. Had to make the custard then let it cool before putting in machine to churn. Then the churning process took a lot longer than the 30 minutes the recipe indicated and was still soft at the end. Will let it sit in the machine turned off for 20 minutes next time for it to harden up.

We use a simple recipe of Half and Half, condensed sweet milk, and a flavoring such as vanilla or peppermint. We have also added pureed fruit like strawberries.
