I love using this electric kettle. It's the easiest way to make tea, instant oatmeal, noodle soup, instant coffee, hot chocolate, and more. It heats water quickly. I like it better than using the microwave. The automatic shut-off, once water is boiling, is great. Sometimes I get distracted, and forget I set the water boiling, but this unit always shuts off for safety, so I never have to be concerned. It's light weight, and easy to pour, unlike heavier metal kettles. I highly recommend this product. I've had it over a year, and it is in great condition.

Bought this little guy about 3 weeks ago. Using it everyday at the office with instant coffee, tea, etc. Works like a charm! I love how I don't have to wait 6 minutes to boil water in the microwave, with this I can boil large quantities of water at the same time in a matter of minutes. The only thing I DON'T like is how short the cord is and it's location on the kettle. It's rediculously short (1.3 ft?) and pretty thick plus it's at the front of the kettle... Whoever came up with that wasn't the brightest star in the sky. Haha. But I definitely recommend if you boil water constantly and don't wanna break out the pots or use the microwave! Great buy :)

I like the Kettle but I may have to exchange it for another one because sometimes it does not seem to shut off in a reasonable amount of time. I heat no more than 2 cups of water at a time. What is a reasonable wait time. My only other complaint is that the plug is in the front where the spout is. Is this usual for these kettles? Thanks

I work overseas in Afghanistan and needed a water boiler for my tea, soups, coffee, etc. Most of the models I have seen are white and have the electrical cord connected to the actual water boiler. This model is black, which I prefer over white, and separates from the base so that when you lift the actual container, you are not pulling on the electrical cord. I find this model much more convenient and practical. The container is big and holds plenty of water. I am very glad I bought this model and would highly recommend it!

Kettle is fast and quiet. Does what it needs to do. The only thing I would change is that it does not have a swivel base.

A reviewer commented on the large metal coil to heat the water... but the specifications state "concealed heating element"... please picture &/or definitely explain if the heating coil- element- is exposed to heat the water. Thank you.

    • A. There is a metal coil at the bottom. Since you really don't have a reason to stick your hand or anything else inside while it's connected to the base, I can't imagine how it would be a safety issue. The plastic cladding makes it safer than a tea kettle and helps insulate the water.

    • A. Yes, heating element is exposed - to clarify, once you open the lid you can see the metal coil at the base of the kettle (slightly off the base). This is the standard style of heating element that I'm used to in kettles (having boiled water in kettles for the last 20 years)and I have not had any issues with it. My last kettle was an exception as it had the heating element covered and this was both more energy inefficient and caused issues with the seal leaking. Hope this is helpful.

    • A. Well, let me put it this way: if by "exposed" you mean introducing your hand inside the kettle to touch it, then it is exposed. Otherwise it sits on the bottom of the kettle where no one should put anything but water.

    • A. Yes it is exposed to heat the water. To me it looks as if it's encased in what looks like a silver type metal so the water is not really touching the real heating element.

Is the plastic used for this kettle BPA-free? Does it have an off switch to ensure that it's off when not plugged in? Can you boil using only 2 cups of water? I want to use this for one - two cups of coffee & have heard that some won't work until the water is full to max. How long does it take to cool down/auto shut off?
    by mscpm23 12/26/2011

    • A. I'm not sure if the plastic is BPA-free. But I can answer your other questions. It has a switch that automatically turns off when the water gets to a full boil. It's a lever that you push down to start the heat, and then it pops up (turning off) when the water comes to a rolling boil. At that point the unit is no longer heating the water, and it will cool down naturally. You can boil as much or as little water as you need.

    • A. Thank you for your question. The unit will automatically shut off when water starts to boil. The unit has a minimum and maximum fill line. The plastic use in the kettle is BPA Free.

    • A. As soon as the water boils the entire assembly turns itself off and can be removed from the base. It is not battery operated and so there would be no concerns about it being on once removed from the base. You CAN boil only 2 cups of water. There is a minimum fill line on the kettle and I have found that it boils no matter what level water I choose whether minimum or maximum. The kettle shuts off as soon as it stops boiling however, it is well enough insulated that the water stays hot for some time afterwards.

    • A. BPA information not on product insert. Minimum water to heat is 0.5L which is 2 8 oz cups of water - and use water only. There is no "ON/OFF" switch other than the ON switch which is turned on when ready to heat water; it will automatically turn OFF, however to insure that heating pad is off, it is necessary to unplug pot.
