Used for a summer log cabin lake cottage on Lake Huron in MI. Provides enough cool for the few really hot days in the summer, and more important to us, takes the chill out on cool evenings. No louder than the fans we ran before. We made a custom window mount, the old cabin has non standard windows.

Awesome Product

Ordered this Friday morning didn't pick the fast shipping thought the free and arrival day the following Thursday a perfect day.Got email from supplier saying the a/c had been shipped within an hour of placing order coming from Lincoln NE so it was on time for Thursday .Got a phone call 7:30am Saturday asking if there would be somebody home in 2 hrs to except delivery Wow!!! In house and installed by 10 am Saturday .Oh the unit works great it's getting a good run over this hot sticky Weekend . Seems able to cool a down a 1000 sq foot room to a comfortable temp .Im pleased with the unit and the price was in our range when compared with in window units and as we would had to replace the window to accomindate a new unit the portable was a cheaper and easier option ,considering smaller units for other rooms.

This works great in our garage. Quickly adjusts temp. It is a good price but next time we would pay more for one that has a drain built in so we don't have to empty the tray of condensation water.

This item works well. It is nice and cool and the remote control is a nice feature. It is a little noisy comparable to a motel ac unit. Something I quickly got used to while sleeping. I would but this item again.

Works well does the job

I purchased the Haier 12,000 BTU Heat/Cool portable air conditioner to help with heating this winter. I did the installation from the window start up the machine set the mode for heating cycle, warm air begin to blow from louver but cool air was blowing out of the back of the machine from the vents and where the filter is located. Then it shut down, I restart it, it function in the same matter. I shut it off. Monday morning I contact the manufacturer concerning the issue I explained the problem also that there is no information in the trouble shooting section for the heating operation. They suggest I keep a product that I am not getting service from, I told the representative I refuse to keep any item that's not performing properly.( It malfunction )

Very Disappointed, It malfunction.

After purchasing this to cool off a room in my home it worked fine for a couple of days, then suddenly began to shut itself off. The unit needed to be drained, which we did, but then over the next 2 days it had to be drained every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I thought that maybe I had it in dehumidifier mode, and since there's no way to tell what mode you're in you need the manual. Well, after searching all day for my manual which I had misplaced, I found the number to Haier customer service on the net (you won't find the manual on the net). When I called I gave them my model and serial number, explained that I needed to know how to put my machine in cooling mode (because it states that in cooling mode the water essentially evaporates), and after describing the syatem to them I got the answer that they could not answer my question and that he would research it and get back to me within the hour. Two and a half hours later I get the call saying he could not find the answer on how to get this model into cool mode and that he has asked someone to research it and they will get back to me the next day, no return call was received. But really, who makes an item and don't put the instructions into the computer for your own customer service team?! I found my manual the next day, thankfully because of the no call back, but it seems I had been running it in cool mode all this time! It still requires draining every 1 1/2 - 2 hours or it shuts itself off. I've already warned several people away from this product and will continue to do so. I can't speak to how the heating part works as I haven't needed that since it just now is turning summer, but I can attest to the cooling and after my experience I have to say that while it does cool you'll be running every 2 hours to drain it so it does not turn off and if you need help don't expect customer service to be able to help you, obviously the company hasn't informed their own customer service reps on how this machine operates. Next time I'll just buy a window unit, I'm too busy to remember to drain this every 2 hours and I do like to sleep through the night uninterrupted. So sadly disappointed in this product and the company itself.

Doesn't work as advertised.

First off it is not worth the money. The exhaust hose is very annoying to set up. Once it is on, it wants to pop out the exhaust hose cover. The teeth on the adaptor are very fragile and will break. Some windows are different, so if you don't have the right type of window the cover wont fit right. The hose itself gets so hot you can feel the heat it is putting off just by standing beside it. The cooling on it is very weak. None of the dials are labeled so you can't even tell what is cool, heat or fan untill you open the book. Better off buying a window unit.
