It does it's job! Our house has a real humidity problem, particularly in the winter. The house is very poorly insulated, and when we turn the heater on in cold, damp weather, we can literally see the condensation building on our walls. After several weeks into this past winter, I could literally smell and see the mold that had begun growing on the furniture and things that we had placed near or against the walls of our house. I bleach-cleaned everything in our house to remove the mold. The house is very small. It's only about 500 sq feet, so this 32pt dehumidifier was built for around this size. I had never used a dehumidifier before, but for our health's sake, I purchased one, knowing that we were going to begin breathing in mold spores and other harmful substances that can come with high humidity in a home. After one day, I had emptied out the 25pt bucket three times! About a month later, our house smells more fresh than it ever has, the walls have stayed completely dry (even in the bathroom after a shower), and there is no sign of mold or mildew. With the severity of the problem we had, that's a miracle!The only drawback is that this dehumidifier does not have a gauge to tell you what the actual humidity levels are, so if you want to maintain a particular humidity level, you have to go purchase one of those and experiment with the settings on this dehumidifier to find out what control level works best for you. 02/17/2012
The unit works great for the first season, either the condenser or evaporator failed and unit no longer collects water. This is the 2nd Haier dehumidifier that did not make it to 3 years for us. I was hopeful to get more out of my investment, despite being on the low range in $$$. Not a durable product. 03/23/2012

Save your money! I purchased this unit last spring and it did great for a couple months then it started tripping the breaker. I tried different outlets but with same effect. Have tried calling their customer service numerous times with no luck of talking to live representative. So, It's heading to the garbage and I'm off to buy another one but definitely not a Haier product. 04/29/2012
