Awesome laptop!!

Customer review by cowboyway4040

After doing lots of research and price comparing, I purchased this laptop to replace my old HP which finally crashed , and I have to say WOW!! I love everything about this new HP, the smart touch is so cool, I have no idea how I survived without it! This laptop is light weight and compact, with tons of extra's and processor power to burn. For a small laptop the screen seems very large and easy to see. I was very apprehensive about moving to Windows 8 but it truly is an amazing product, so glad I didn't insist on staying with windows 7. I will admit there is a bit of a learning curve, but it's not bad and I think you will be happy with the end results. About the only detractor I can find in this whole deal is you need to update to Windows 8.1 when you get it and that takes a little time, other than that I love this laptop and would highly recommend it to anyone. PS: Walmart's prices on laptops are great, and their return policies unsurpassed!!

I bought this PC for my kids so they would stay off my Vaio. They absolutely love it. From reading previous comments, it appears most people didn't notice there was no mention of a CD-ROM drive. I think it's a little unfair to give this laptop 2 stars because you didn't read the description and made an assumption (buyer's fault, just my opinion though). Since my family and I download almost everything, from music to games, this just simply wasn't an issue for me. Besides, I have a laptop that has a CD-ROM drive as well as a desktop. In my opinion, it is still worth the money because it is a touch screen laptop. Being pre-loaded with Windows 8, I was looking forward to trying that out as well - pretty cool and extremely under-advertised. I don't care what no one says, the touch screen is the bomb. It's a basic PC that pretty much sets itself up initially, and has all main functionalities of a laptop. Not super powered, but I don't need super power. I just needed my kids to stop begging to play music and games on my business laptop! 5 stars from me.

I obtained this laptop during the black friday event. waited 3 weeks to receive it, and i have to say it was well worth the wait. i had a older more powerful toshiba (windows 7).. windows 8 is a big change and let me say that the fact that this is also a touchscreen computer makes it SO MUCH EASIER to get used too. i don't understand why its so bad? but anyways, this computer is everything i want in a computer. its small, light, and thin. the camera is so much better than my old computers, not grainy. i listen to a lot of music and had the fun time of moving all 5,000 songs from my old computer to this one. some reviews have said the speakers are low. and mine arent (maybe i got lucky) when at 100 theyre loud and not distorted. (plus you can change the sound profile and edit volumes) ;) and the fact that theres no cd drive, makes sense once you see how thin and light it is. just buy an external. no big deal. to sum it up, id recommend this to anyone. great buy!!

  • you can buy a external disk player that plugs into the usb. i don't have 1. it might be hard to get it to run dvds as it probably does NOT have dvd drivers but it might run them in windows media player.

  • You simply need to purchase an external cd-dvd drive. You can buy one at Walmart for around $25-$30. Then you plug it into the laptop in the USB drive. Then a pop up may appear to install software which should take 2 minutes, and you're ready to go. They are small so its really not much of a hassle. It should fit into your laptop case so you can bring it with you.

  • you would have to buy an external drive and plug into one of the usb ports, I think that would be the easiest. As far as making one built right into the laptop I have no idea and wouldn't chance doing it myself. Hope this helped.

  • You can't add an internal DVD drive. You need to purchase an external DVD drive and connect the USB cord that comes with the drive into one of the laptop's USB ports. Laptop will install the drive for you. Once installed, the external DVD drive while connected to laptop will appear under Devices and Drives.
