very easy to connect

I had an HP photosmart printer previously. This one is better overall but lacks some features I miss. It's a wireless printer and was unbelievably easy to connect. This one has 4 color cartridges, better than my previous one which had 5. 4 cartridges instead of 5 should make my overall cost less. The photo paper tray is differently placed and I don't know yet if I like it or if it will be as convenient as the other one. All controls are on the touch/viewing screen which is new to me but I like it. The extender on the paper tray, which holds the copies seems very flimsy but it isn't anything that needs to be handled. The printer itself is solid and compact and takes up less space than the other one I had. Everything is working well and the price was great, on sale at the time. I would recommend this machine which prints, copies and scans. I also purchased a product replacement/service warranty for a very minimal cost. And I'm glad to have made and very satisfied with, my purchases.

HP6510 Set Up and use

This was easy to set up following the get started pamplet. I set mine up through the router instead of connecting it to the PC. It prints fast. On some systems you will have to tell it each time in the preferences to print double sided. One of my systems is that way, three do it automaticlly. I found one thing that was hard to figure out. If you want print pictures on your 4X6 photo paper, and the picture is on your computer or phone already, you must first upload it to an album on Snapfish. Nothing that I found said that. The one thing I dont like is trying to print index cards (also 4X6) when I load them in the paper tray, it is really hard to get the left over paper out of ther tray. It will not come out far enogh to get hold of them. I finally had to use a pencil eraser to pull them back far enough that I could get hold of them. Prints great from my Iphone, Ipad, Vista laptop, and Windows 7 desktop. The email and print from anywhere, even when not at home is a really nice feature.

I had a print deadline and while changing cartridges on my beloved HP Photosmart 7760 the arm broke off which holds the print cartridge. I was so bummed! For months I was checking on which printer I would buy if my wonderful 7760 died. I didn't like any of my options. So yesterday when I had to explore the HP options again I read about the new Photosmart 6510. I am very happy that I opted for it. It is much quieter than the HP All-in-one that I have at another location and the print calibration is not an endless task either. I have not tried the scanner yet ( I still have my trusty HpScanjet 4890). I don't want wireless, so I connected with a USB cable. It was so easy. I am very happy with the automatic two-sided print. WOW - how does it know?! THe touchscreen is fun and clear. The swing-out papercatcher is a great feature. I broke it off on my old printer. The pull-out paper tray looks neat, but you can't see your paper stock at a glance. I know, that is being picky. I can recommend this printer!

love the color quality and how it matches my onscreen view. enjoying the ability to print on front and back. i wish that the surface area for scanning and copying was larger for the oversized photos. the touch screen is awesome though i am having trouble printing wirelessly and scanning wirelessly from more than one computer without having to reset the wifi however its not impossible for the trouble to me my own difficulties and not the product. this machine works so much better than my old kodak that i had and i recommend it to all of my friends.

Just plain bad

The 6510, (third one, in as many weeks) is just plain awful! I can't even bring myself to go back thru the customer service experience! The first two had printing issues they couldn't get right after several hours online and on the phone. The 3rd one won't connect wirelessly to my PC. Connects fine wireless to my laptop. Had to connect with USB (not provided) to make desktop computer print. The first 2 that I returned, did connect wireless to everything. The print quality is streaky, white lines in dark colors when printing cards, some photographs, and labels. It's pretty useless as far as I am concerned. It too will be returned for refund. Not up to working with another one. HP quality is not what it used to be. This is a thin plastic piece of junk. I would give no star on the review but not an option. Don't expect the paper tray to last long as hard as you have to pull on it to open, does not glide out. Sorry Sorry Sorry

HP Photosmart 6510 eAll-In-One

This Printer is FANTASTIC! The Photo reproduction is great and all Documents look very good at NORMAL format, Laser Quality in High Def mode. I had no problems setting this unit up or printing right out of the box. The only problem is occasional slow printing. Sometimes it takes quite a while to print from the Laptops. This maybe caused by the use of so many Wireless Devices I have running in the house all at the same time. I would recommend this unit to anyone as a Home use or Small Office Unit. I was also a little disappointed that the eFax feature was unavailable on this unit, but then again I was unaware of the service when I purchased it and the Sales Rep didn't mention anything about the eFAx Feature. I didn't find out about it till I installed the Unit and it came up as a matter of loading the Driver and Software. GOOD Printer though! I'm VERY pleased with my purchase and the Sales Rep WAS VERY HELPFUL!

Great printer, but scan software goes back to 60's

I replaced a 3 year old HP printer that finally died after thousands of scans. It was an All In One that was a workhorse and never jammed / hung up / failed until the end. This new one is fast and quiet. I love the multiple ink cartridges -- only replace the ones you use up. But the scanning software is a throwback to the 1960s. The 3 year old scanner had software that allowed me to scan hundreds of slides and photographs, 3 to 5 at a time. It took a single scan of 5 photographs and was "intelligent" enough to separate them into 5 individual JPEGS. For example, I scanned 100 photographs 5 at a time, and it only took 20 scans. The software with this unit does NOT offer that parsing capability. If I had to do all those photographs again, it would take 100 scans -- five times that from before :<> As a printer it is wonderful! As a scanner, it leaves a LOT to be desired. Any chance of a software update, HP?

Easy to install... I hardwired to my pc, connected wirelessly to 2 different laptops, email to it directly from 2 different Androids, and everything has been a piece of cake! Instant print jobs, this was by far one of the better printers! This has replaced a previous Photosmart 3000c series nearly 10yrs old that just won't die, but, 10x better than the Deskjet 5600 we had... So far, I love this printer! The only issue (which I have not yet looked into) is some of the Avery Label maker software kept providing an error, but, I may just need to re-install or check the software settings. But otherwise, the connectivity and ease of use for this printer are fantastic!!! Excellent prints for photos, documents, etc... Printer will even auto-detect which is printing from an email/wireless feed and use the appropriate feeder--paper or photo... Great buy!!

This is my 3rd HP printer. I loved them all, especially the 2nd one but it got to where it would not print photos so good. I'd had it for about 3 years so I decided it was time to upgrade. The present one is wireless so I can use it with both computers. But each time I go to print something, I have to go into properties and tell it which tray, which size and which paper to use. I'm not sure if the ink will last longer with this one but each color is a different cartridge so you only replace the one that is empty. I will find out if this is better or not. With my 2nd printer, I could put my memory chip in and transfer the pictures to my external hard drive. With the new printer, I can't. So I am still using my 2nd printer for that. With both printers I could print directly from the printer. With the new printer, I can edit my pictures before printing them. All in all, you can't go wrong with an HP printer. I can only compare this with one other printer I had that came with my first conputer. It was not a good printer. I am so satisfied with HP that I do not desire to try anything else in order to make a comparison. HP also make very good photo paper.

Inferior in almost every way

Customer review by cdwa

Pros: almost plug and play set up; wireless; better photo prints Cons: This machine is inferior in almost every way to the HP C5280 all-in-one photosmart that I sadly had to replace. The construction is shoddy; text printing is inferior; the machine is noisy; double sided printing is way inferior - you'll wind up with one sided print if you can't get the paper tray out fast enough to turn the paper over (and the paper tray does not come out smoothly). I'm not even sure whether it prints envelopes or not. I have no use for the e-print feature so cannot say how well it works - or not. I am in mourning for my C5280. I've had HP PCs and printers for years, but will have to shop around when the time comes for my next computer. I have to wonder if HP PCs have gone down as much as their printers have.
