    Duplex specifications misleading.

You might think from the specifications that when this printer arrives you'll be able to auto-duplex, but you would be wrong. You need an optional accessory that isn't even listed on the HP.com website. You'd also think that once you acquire the needed duplexing unit that you'd be able to auto-duplex 13x19 stock, but you'd also be wrong. You can't even auto-duplex 11x17 without considerably large margins. Deep in the manual is a confusing paper format grid, that will show you what options are available for what size. If you plan on purchasing this printer, I recommend you find that paper format information and review before you buy. Also, the printer initiates for exceptionally long amounts of time, and goes through ink like nobody's business. I can say on the positive, that if you manually duplex 13x19 stock, the front-to-back orientation is excellent. Knowing what i know now, I would have purchased a different printer.

Drinks up ink, slow printing and didn't last

My employer bought this printer for me and I used it for less than 1 year before it died. During that time, I went through at least 4 packages of ink when I hardly use the printer at all. From day one, before it printed, it would make all kinds of noise for 3-4 minutes before finally printing the document. Every other time I turned it on, it said an ink cartridge needed to be replaced - it's out of control. It had trouble staying connected wirelessly so often, that I got fed up and had to run a cord to my computer. One day, about 10 months after purchase, it became unresponsive and a few lights are just blinking over and over. A google search suggests the printer head is fried. It's not worth the phone call to confirm it. I'm done. I've had some really fantastic HP printers, but this one is terrible. What a waste of time and money.

Let me start with good things - i love Epson printers and their support. Epson is the only inkjet that I buy. I have WorkForce multi-functions in a number of offices and they definitely do the trick. Print quality is good. I would buy one again if I have room for it..... I did get confused I think when I bought it... I thought WF stood for WorkForce, not WideFormat. My own fault and hopefully this will help someone else with that confusion. Cons for this printer- Footprint is HUGE. I was not expecting that. Although I would consider that my own fault after not looking at the dimensions... but really this machine is gigantic. It is very very noisy. I can't believe how loud this printer is. When you're replacing ink... the printer allows you to open the lid to replace ink as its going through its processes. what happens is the lid to the cartridges gets the printheads stuck... and the printer can't move the heads. It slips out the gears in it... making a really loud grinding noise and errors out the printer. Just a weird setup.

The first WF-7110 I purchased for a college CAD studio would simply not attach to our ethernet network -- not natively, not using the downloadable connection software, not with tech support walking me through it. So the retailer sent another, which did connect successfully, but it has had such problems with the paper feed that it is all but useless. This printer has two trays which we wanted to use for letter and for tabloid paper, and the tabloid would only occasionally work correctly - maybe one time in 20 -- without jamming. Even when we feed single sheets through the top rear slot, as soon as we send a print job, that sheet shoots out the front and the printer picks up a new sheet from the tray. Which then jams. One last thing - the tiny menu screen makes menu navigation a real pain. You navigate with up/down/left/right buttons, but I can find nowhere a map of the menu choices -- finding your way to the point where you can manually set an IP address, for instance, is very very frustrating. Tech support said that there was no such map -- hard to believe, but that's what he said. I've had such great results over the years with the Epson Photo Stylus line that I was really looking forward to the WF-7110, but it has been like a bad dream where things just keep getting worse and worse.
