- The packaging is same as Velveeta, airtight, vacuumed sealed. Regardless of the 'best buy' date given, you can open and enjoy this product up to five years if the storage tempature is reasonable. Don't let freeze, and avoid high temps, ie: 80% +. Most best by dates are more for stock rotation than they are for product viability. I'm about to buy 50 units of this product and they will sit on a shelf until needed. Wether that's in one year or 5 years. A can of Tuna Fish will still be as good in 5-8 years from the day you bought it as long as the integrity of the can is not compromised. - I got mine in April 2013 and the "best by" date is September 2013. It is not refrigerated when you buy it but package says "refrigerate after opening." However if you do an internet search on "how long does [that other famous name cheese] last?" some replies will say because it's not considered real cheese it never needs refrigeration and will last forever So at the very least you should be able to count on 6 months or so.by 3timesoccermom4/30/2015Was this answer helpful? Q. what is the recipe , on the inside of the easy melt cheese box, for macaroni & cheese????
- 2 cups uncooked penne pasta, 1/2 this brick (16 oz), 1/3 cup milk. Cook pasta then drain, then return to pot and then add cheese and milk at low heat until cheese melted. The above is the recipe, but frankly you could instead just melt the cheese (plus milk) in the microwave using the bowl you'd eat from, so cleanup is easier. Add the pasta to the bowl last. - Yes, it's safe to use. There was a recent news article about how we Americans throw away too much food because we think "Expiration Date", "Use By Date", and "Sell By Date" all mean the food is bad after those dates. This cheese doesn't even need to be refrigerated until AFTER it is opened! Unless it's been subjected to extreme heat, it will be perfectly good to use. BTW, it freezes well, too, although it tends to crumble after frozen but is fine then to be used in casseroles, mac & cheese, and other types of dishes where form is not important.by Pinky2123/7/2014Was this answer helpful?
