I've had no problem with my metal utensils and I've used several of these pots

Yes. I used a big metal spoon and it's fine.

It comes labeled as a "stock pot" so you could cook in it, if that is what you mean.

It is for canning with the water bath method too though, as it has a rack included.

I bought one today, and I would suggest you pay more for a better one. The metal is thin, and mine already had a small dent where the enamel is chipped off. I didn't notice until too late, and ready to can.

I use mine just to staralize the jars. I would only recommend pressure canning these days. It is much safer.

I assume you mean to dissolve the malt & mix the ingredients in water before starting the fermentation process in a larger container. This will work great for that purpose. Remember not to start with too high of a heat, slow and low is the key.
Porcelain over steel is sanitary, durable and fairly easy to clean BUT if you go too fast the high sugar content is prone to scorching in almost any container.

I would NOT buy this pot. I used it once, and the coating started to come off of the interior. I returned it.
Buy a GOOD stainless steel pot for brewing beer.

I used it for beer on a propane burner outside. It worked perfectly and was easy to clean.

I have other Granite Wear pots and they serve their purpose well. Yes they are thin, and can scorch easily, but, after all, it is a STOCK pot. And, when compared to stainless steel or aluminum pots, one can't beat this price for a pot that is only used occasionally and for specific purposes. If using a pot of this size on a regular basis, it would certainly be worth a bigger investment for one that is upwards of $100 or more. For my purposes, which is once a month use, on average, for large family get-together meals, this pot is excellent.

Excellent item but the information on line about the pot didn't mention that it's not useable on glass stove tops as it could crack the stove top. Had to buy a $60.00 stainless steel 22 qt pot.

My main problem with it is that the website did not explain that it is not flat on the bottom which does not work for my glasstop as that creates hot spots where there is no contact and ruins it's appearance. I returned it right away and therefore do not have any more experience with it.

I ordered this online and I recieved this two days later which was wonderful. I opened the box and pulled out the stock pot to see it was dented. I was not impressed at all with how light it was. I should have looked at it in the store because i would not have bought it. Pay a little more for better quality

Not going to last!

I used this to make bone broth  and it ruined the whole batch. The finish came off and turned my bone broth a terrible charcoal gray color! I had to toss it all. So disappointing. I never dreamed it would do this to my broth, seeing as how it's labeled a stock pot. 

In the photo - the left side is bone broth made in an aluminum pot, the right side is bone broth made in the granite wear stock pot.

DO NOT BUY!

This pot is cheap and thin ruin a whole pot of soup! Burnt smell and tase. I do not recommend. I can't even return it cause I couldn't get it clean

i received my item looking like someone took it and slammed it against the concrete. the packaging is fine so this was done in warehouse and they decided to sell me a defective unusable item.
