    • A. They did not supply the AC DC Adapter (converter). The machine requires DC 6 volts, minimum 2 amperes output. I could not find it at Walmart store in Simi Valley, California. I went to Radio Shack. I did not like their solution. Recently, I went to Taiwan for something else. During my spare time, I found a perfect adapter rated DC 6 volts 2 amperes, which works beautifully with this exercise machine. In my product review posted on Feb 19, 2011, I strongly recommend the manufacturer to throw in the AC DC adapter and the retailer to carry the AC Dc adapter. I have good reason to believe that the OEM cost (for the adapter) to the manufacturer could be under US$3.00. I hope some major retailers will carry it and sell it at reasonable price. If they don't, I will import.

    • A. I believe you can purchase a power cord for this machine. I remember seeing some flyer with the owners manual about it.

    • A. It can run on 4D batteries but they don't last long at all! I wouldn't risk a universal adapter on this device but the adapter from the company is close to $90. Ouch! The cheapest I've seen a OEM replacement cord for was about $40 both on eBay and a site called HomeGymPower.biz.

    • A. You can use either batteries (size D x4) or an AC adapter. I highly recommend using an AC adapter with the trainer, as the battery compartments seem a bit of a challenge to get to.

    • A. After reading some of the problems on this site about the adapters and not finding any info in the book about the voltage or the amps, I finally took the advice that someone had left about going to radio shack and getting their 6 volt adapter with the 2.5 amp. Model #273-318 and got the M tip for free #273-344 as a promotion. The adapter was $40 but it fit the requirements of the machine as I took a flashlight to the adapter port on the monitor and realized that it states right on the back of the monitor (in black of course) that it requires a 6v output with a MINIMUM 2 amp. I've been using it for a week now and haven't had any problems. Hope that helps! Also, don't forget to set your polarity to positive!

I just bought the Stridetrainer 595, and am waiting on my brother to help me get it in the house and put it together. He wants to know what tools are required, and since we still have to get it in the house, I am hesitant to undo the bands and open it to check the instructions. I have looked on all sides of the box that I can see, and do not see what tools are required. Also, what kind of batteries are needed ?

    • A. It comes with two allen wrenches so all you need is a medium sized phillips screwdriver and a crescent wrench. It's very easy to assemble. I did it myself in about an hour and a half while I was watching a movie.

    • A. You only need a small adjustable wrench and a phillips screwdriver (#2, I think). The allen wrenches are included. It takes 4 "D" batteries, if you haven't purchased AC adapter.

    • A. You only need a Philips screwdriver and a medium crescent wrench to put the elliptical together. Two hex wrenches are included in the parts box. "D" cell batteries are used in this elliptical machine but I would buy the Jensen Jen1700 Universal DC adapter instead so you won't have to swap out the batteries.

(question continued) The product description for this unit says that it weighs about 175 pounds, is this correct? If I order the product and get it shipped to my home, canI take individual parts out of the box and carry them in or is the unit in one whole piece? I am just "envisioning" how difficult it will be for me to carry this unit up a flight of stairs. Thanks.

    • A. I am not sure exactly how much it weighed. But it was heavy. When I bought it, I asked my son to come along with me. It took 2 people to load it onto my small SUV, and unload it at home. We used a dolly to wheel it into the house. Assemble it by one person is possible. I did most of it by myself. Occasionally you need somebody to hold something for you. To carry it upstairs you definitely need two people. The frame and flywheel are fixed together already and they are the majority of the total weight.

    • A. Yes, there are lots of parts that can be taken out of box and upstairs. However, be advised that the main base unit (flywheel), is one piece and weighs approx. 125. I'm 5'5, 160 lbs, and though didn't go up flight of stairs, I lugged it in my house with little problem. It's more awkward than heavy. You should have no problem with two people.

    • A. The box is definitely heavy. I had to open it up in the living room and take the parts downstairs in sections. It actually worked out pretty well because I was able to take the main box outside without having to drag it back up the stairs. And, I was able to lay out the all the parts which made it easier to put the machine together.

    • A. It does come in a lot of small parts but the main frame is still very heavy I'm guessing but I would say over 100 lbs or more. It was hard for me to get it out of the box with my sons help. You would never be able to carry it upstairs by yourself.

    • A. Though you can remove parts, the main body weighs roughly 120 pounds and is bulky. It would be well worth renting a dolly if you cannot get a friend to help. 2 people should be able to handle moving the box but it would sure be tough for just one.

    • A. The box that the product comes in is HUGE and very heavy. If you are home when the product is delivered, the delivery men will bring it inside for you. My delivery men used a dolly and it did take two of them to get it in the house. You could definately open the box and carry individual pieces, that would be no problem at all.

I purchased this about a month ago, and have had no problems. The assembly was easy, although I had a second person helping me. A single person could put this together (hardest part is getting the bottom legs on but you could prop up the machine on some wood). I lined up all my pieces initially and then it took about 1.5 hours to assemble. I purchased extra high temp auto grease at the auto store and actually used the grease on all my screws and pieces to help them go in easier. I purchased the RCA Universal 500mA AC adapter from Walmart and it works great (it is positive tip polarity). I never ran the console on batteries. The machine does not squeak after a month of pretty much daily use. Just a note: it is heavy. It was delivered curbside to my house and we opened it up outside and carried it in piece by piece. I went with the delivery option since the box would not fit my Highlander well. It is a rather large box. Overall, I am happy with the unit. For the price, it was a good buy.

This is the first elliptical machine that I have used. I have been researching the machines for about a year, and wanted an efficient one, that was also a good price. I found just that at my local Super Wal Mart. My husband and I put the machine together. I recommend using 2 people to put it together. Also give your self plenty of time. We took about 2.5 hours to put it together. We wanted everything to fit nice and tight, after reading other reviews on other machines, I gathered that some of the bolts needed constant tighten after assembly. If you take the time to put it together and have your husband or super strong friend tighten the bolts super duper hard you will not have to worry about the bolts lessening or having "things" move. We have used our machine for about 2 week every other day for about an hour and no problems, perfect machine for the first time user. Programs are wonderful, as well as having the iPod hook up!

I'm an avid exerciser and do my research before buying exercise equipment. This is my 3rd elliptical (I had the other 2 for years and simply worked them to death), and I knew what I was looking for. This machine is solidly built and easy to put together. I'm a woman and I was able to put it together myself. All the parts were included and were well organized, and the instructions were easy to follow. It took me about 2 hours including unpacking everything. This elliptical has a lot of great features too. The incline ramp really works your butt, and I've had a chance to try all the preset workouts (each 30 min. long) and they're all very challenging. I also like that the resistance goes up to 12- I like a challenge! The elliptical is pretty easy to move around, and is fairly quiet, even when I'm working out hard. This is the best elliptical that I've bought yet, and I highly recommend it. The price was quite reasonable as well.

We purchased the stride trainer 595 before reading any reviews. And now that I'm reading through the reviews a few of them are making me chuckle. We purchased this for me because I have been trying to lose weight and when winter hit and we lost our primary babysitter for our son, my time outside at the track was completely eliminated. I love this thing! I can burn an easy 500 calories in 30 min. I feel like I'm dying after about 15 min because I push to stay in the 65rpm range....but with the reviews saying it is noisy I completely disagree...I am 220 pounds and it is very quiet and I don't play music or anything typically watch a tv show or read a book. the only complaint I would agree with is the screen. It is pretty cheapish...but the different options and the 12 resistance levels are awesome. This is defiantly worth the 450. If you are having issues with noise try greasing it really well...my husband did that as he was putting it together, he has even started using it as of last night! Yeay! lol

I had been looking for an elliptical trainer to complement my home gym. I purchased the Golds Gym Stridetrainer 595 Elliptical in early October as soon as it was available in my local store. I love the workouts (except getting the machine down stairs into my gym) and have lost a significant amount of weight as well as improving my cardio and blood pressure. It is an all-round great way to work out. The machine is sturdy in construction and has many nice features for the price range. My only concern after using it 4 times a week for 13 weeks is that it is starting to develop some light clicking noises. I rechecked all the bolts and nuts and found them to be tight. I am very noise sensitive and little noises like that make me think there may be something wearing. Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase. I do recommend getting a plug in power supply to replace the batteries.
