Hello, my name is Alan. I got this for Easter from my mom, because I had previously bought "Gold's Gym 40lb Vinyl Dumbbell Set" and with out surprise you cannot bench press or squat them. So I went to Walmart on Saturday bought this, and got it the next morning. This bar is amazing, any weights fit on it, and you can use it for anything. Curling, Bench Pressing, Squatting, Dead Lifting, etc. The bar weighs approximately 12lbs and it holds up to 200 pounds. It includes a three piece bar that is put into place with two very small pins, and includes two holding clips. The only downfall this bar has, is exhibited to in the process of being assembled, like I stated earlier this bar is assembled with two extremely small pins, they are hit into place with a mallet/hammer into two very small holes. You can see the problem, but once the bar is assembled the bad goes away and the good starts to come. I recommend this to any and everyone, it is well worth the price.

I read the other user reviews before I purchased this, and I have to say I am really, really sorry for them. Either they had a much different product, or they are just not handy with tools. As for me, I brought the box home, dumped the parts out, pinched one end of the pins together with a pair of pliers, and tapped them home with a small hammer. I was literally trying out the bar within 5 minutes of arriving home. It is a nice, sturdy, low-cost bar and seems to be of good quality. Very happy with this purchase, it is exactly what I wanted.

Well I have to say that I made this purchase before reading other reviews, that being said.... The bar was not easy to assemble. The pins do not fit the holes appropriately so after an hour and a whole lotta swearing, I figured out that you have to bang the pins first before trying to fit them in the holes. Not at all what the directions said to do. When I took the pieces out of the package it was sooooo greasy and oily. I had to wash them immediately. The other issue I had was one of the screw caps (that hold the weights on) didn't fit one end. Kinda hard to take something back after putting it together but I did take it to the store (assembled and all) I explained to the sale clerk that there was a box of these down in the weight dept and I wanted to see if another one would fit. I was able to find one that did fit. Now after all that do I like it? Sure, it's not half bad especially for the price. Once I got through all the difficulties I feel it's comparable to other pieced weight bars.

As has been stated in other reviews, assembling this bar can be very difficult. It consists of two end pieces and a central piece, each of about the same length. The end pieces slide into the central piece, and they are locked together with a metal pin on each side. Put simply, this pin does not fit. I tried to hammer it in with a mallet as instructed, but to no avail. I eventually spent half an hour crushing the pins with a vice grip, and then another 10 minutes hammering them in. After all this work, I realize that the pieces do not fit exactly flush with each other. There is a small amount of wobble. I wish to make clear that, once finally assembled, the bar will do what it says, and I do nto doubt it could hold 200 pounds (though the product does not specify a maximum weight limit; another concerning flaw). However, it is difficult to assemble and the wobble is concerning. I plan to return the bar tomorrow. Hopefully the store accepts it; it cannot be dissambled because the pins are impossible to remove.

I put this together in about 5 minutes using a tack hammer. Oh yeah, and I'm a woman and not particularly handy. Yes, you're going to be pretty much forcing the pins into the holes in the bar. I started out hammering lightly just to get it in place and then hammering harder to push it through. I removed one star because the metal around the pins was sharp from forcing the pin through and I wound up with a small (like dr office blood draw) cut on my finger. I was able to smooth the sharp edges by hammering them down and then I vacuumed the area where I assembled because of some small metal shavings that came off. Anyway, this bar will work for my needs and overall was really very easy to put together.
