The new style with the 3 holes for transporting is an upgrade from the old style. The base of the 2 inch hole allows you to use quick lock collars without problems.The set is great for home use and the value for the money is just as good. Rated 5 out of 5 by awahili Excellent addition to basic Olympic Weight Set This 50 pound Gold's Gym Olympic plate set is an excellent addition to the basic 300-lb Olympic weight set for anyone wanting to add more Olympic weight plates. The set allows the training to increase at a realistic pace. The need to continually change plates from dumb-bells to easy curl bar, back to the Olympic bar becomes unnecessary.My recommendation is to add 2 Gold's Gym 50-lb Olympic Plate sets before adding the larger plates, i.e., 25, 35, 45-lb Olympic Plates. 12/26/2010
