Rated 5 out of 5★ by Rehabing Injury I bought this item when I was having difficulty overcoming an IT band injury from running. It worked great to get the knots out and I wish I would have had one sooner. I will use it consistently now to help avoid a re-injury. I have since used it on tight/sore back muscles from lifting. It is amazing. Best $15 ever! 02/17/2010
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Very poor quality I'm a huge fan of using foam rollers to help with recovery from intensive cardio and weightlifting. I typically used the ones at the local gym, but decided to get one at home where I can do this prehabilitation stuff alone. This foam roller is by far, the worst I've used to date. It has a worse consistency than a pool flotation noodle, and would randomly deflate in the middle of an exercise. It becomes very apparent that this foam roller will be damaged and overused within 1-2 weeks of constant use, as its shape will change immensely.I highly recommend getting a different, higher quality, sturdier foam roller. One that won't deflate mid-exercise into a useless flat surface (which you can't roll the target body part on), and one which won't be rendered unusable within a week of constant use. 07/04/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Love it! This little roller is somewhat of a medieval torture device while you're using it, but man it does wonders to stretch out my IT band which gets super tight from running. This was the best price I could find for it as well. Definitely a recommendation for runners! 12/02/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Best Stretch! This is great before and after workouts for stretches. It gets all your knotts out. I started out doing these a few years ago after I heard about them and bought the longer more expensive ones. But, after time they wear down. So, I decided to buy this one which I use on a daily basis and it works better then the expensive brands. It's a little thicker then the ones you'll find at your local gym, but in my opinion I believe it works better. It's great to use in the morning too. It's especially wonderful on your back: This is wear I find the most pain. If used correctly it will be one of the best stretches you can do before and after workouts! Plus, I have my husband hooked on it too! 01/08/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Hurts so Good This was for my girlfriend, here is her review =)...It is Very Hard, but also so helpful. Cracking and massaging my back by myself has never been so easy, and my abs get a nice workout while I'm at it! Can't do all the moves that they give as examples because it is So Hard that it hurts to much (outer thighs & arm moves) but my Back Loves It!! 05/17/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by tl;dr satisfied with purchase I am convinced that this foam roller turned out to be a good purchase and here's why. Yesterday I went to the gym used the treadmill and leg press machines and I've pushed myself to my limit. I went back home and stepped out of my truck and I could really feel how sore my legs were. So I decided to use the foam roller I've purchased and did some leg stretches with it and it helped. I was impressed by how it reduced the stress in my muscles. Before I used it, I was thinking about how sore will be the next day. That day being today and I feel pretty good and ended up doing some running in my neighborhood. I thought today will be a rest day, but nope I'm still going and I will use the foam roller later at the end of the day.I think this size 18" is workable. It is long enough for parts of the back. For me, the roller sits above or close to the tailbone and I use a pillow to support my head while using the foam roller parallel with my back. What I do seems to work, I'm not sure if a longer one will add any benefits, perhaps a longer one could fit the entire back from head to end of tailbone, but isn't necessary for me. 06/24/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Ouch, but a good ouch My massage therapist suggested this roller for me to release tight muscles in my legs. And it does do that, but it is HARD. She even said she can't put all her weight on the roller. So I now do a modified version where I sit in a chair and manually with my hands, roll the roller down my quads and on the sides of my legs. Just resting your calves on the roller can be painful. Who knew you could be so painfully bunched up? Use this roller and you will know where you store stress! Very versatile for many positions and stretches even. 06/03/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great roller so far! One reviewer said it was squishy, but not so. Very firm and just the thing for my husband's back! The store even took $4 off the on-line price as it was cheaper in the store. My son had a roller a chiropractor sold him and recommended he use for his back so when he moved and took it with him, my husband, who had been using it and thought it really helped, needed his own. He is very pleased with this one--seems even sturdier than our son's and he says the 18" is just perfect and better than our son's shorter one. He rolls his spine along the roller with arms folded in front of chest and feels all the vertebra pop into place and his back feels much improved for it! 11/25/2012
