    Defend the Castle! Hi all! I purchased this Girl's Loft Castle bed for my 4 year old daughter because she was getting too big for her toddler bed so we shopped around for a twin or full size bed for her. She indicated that she wanted one with a slide so after much research, we settled on this bed via walmart.com. This bed set ONLY fits a TWIN mattress.Product:The bed frame itself is constructed pretty solid and is made of metal material. All hardware (bolts) are hex key type which includes the hex wrench to tighten. The material for the tent feels like microfiber but I think its of a cotton mix. The slide is metal as well and is about four feet long.Install:The install of the bed frame is straight forward if you follow the directions. The complete set comes in three different boxes so before starting, I took everything out and laid it out for easy access. Most of the parts had a corresponding letter for ease of identification. My only gripe is the hardware (bolts) have no corresponding letter for the different screws that they provide. You have to guess and try and match it up with the worksheet provided.Construction:Putting the pieces together went fairly well. I used a hex key bit with my cordless drill for most of the bolts/screws to make it faster. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to complete the build as I was being careful and double/triple checking the correct parts were being installed at each step. There are some bolts where you have to put it in from the bottom so be aware of that. Other then that, my build went pretty smooth.Final Thoughts:I am very impressed with this bed setup as it suits what my daughter needs/wants at this moment in time. Plus, the price was really competitive with others that we were looking at. The space below the bed is a great place for her to play as well as store some of her toys in bins to keep the room from being cluttered. I would recommend this product to anybody who wants a quality bed set for their child.Tips:The canvas or tent is probably the hardest to put on as it is all Velcro and conforms around the metal piping. The directions tell you to put it on last so trying to put it on after that thing is built is very tough. I recommend putting the canvas cover (over the bed) on before securing it to the bed frame. There is no way around putting on the castle cover until its built so you would need some sort of step stool to reach up that high to put it on. The MAX weight capacity on the bed is 300lbs. I wanted to note that as a safety hazard. You don't want too many kids on there playing as the mattress support could fail.I've also attached two pictures for this review so you could see what it looks like.BONUS TIP:The biggest question most of you readers out there want to know is if the slide and the latter is swappable or can change sides. YES, you can put the slide on either side of the bed. All you have to do is adjust the center rail to move over as there are extra holes for that feature.If you have any questions, all you have to do is reply to this review and I am more then willing to answer your questions.Have a great day! 08/13/2010
    awesome space saver I bought the castle bed, for my soon to be 4 year old. I was worried when I started putting it together and all the warnings of no one under 6 years old on top bunk. However she navigates the stair and slide and has slept on it for nearly 3 weeks without any issues.The area underneath makes for great hide a way or place to put toy box and other stuff.Would say its a great bed. 03/15/2010
    WOW! Wonderful bed. I was hesitant about what the quality would be but it is well made, better than beds from furniture stores. Well worth the money. Our 2year old daughter loves it. Super cute! 07/11/2010
    like the product i brought this for my 3 yr old baby girl i like it alot but what i dont like about it is the slide is really long everything else about it i luv 03/01/2010
