I bought the castle bed, for my soon to be 4 year old. I was worried when I started putting it together and all the warnings of no one under 6 years old on top bunk. However she navigates the stair and slide and has slept on it for nearly 3 weeks without any issues. The area underneath makes for great hide a way or place to put toy box and other stuff. Would say its a great bed.

Wow! I can't believe I got this bed for only $400. It is very sturdy, not flimsy at all. Made of metal not plastic. And after it was put together it looked even better than the picture online showed. This bed will last for years. When my daughter grows out of the "castle" part, I can take all that off and have a simple yet classy loft bed. I love this bed and so does my daughter. Now for the not-so-great... it is not hard to put together but it is tedious. So many pieces, so many screws. I am a single mother and, using only the tools provided in the box, got this bed put together by myself in 7 hours. Yes, 7 hours. With no breaks. It took FOREVER to tighten all those screws with the little allen wrenches provided. Word to the wise- get a Dremel. I found the instructions to be very clear and relatively easy to follow. Some other little handy hints- I had mine shipped site to store and it came with an INSANE amount of packaging. Be prepared for the mess. All pieces have a little sticker on them labeled with a letter. Look for the labels and your assembly will be pretty straightforward. Take all pieces out so you can find what you need without rummaging through boxes. Keep all the little screws in their original package- just take some scissors and cut a big X through the top of the bubble, and you will be able to reach in and grab a screw while the rest of them stay in their place. You will need some heavy duty scissors or a knife to cut the zip ties off some of the packaging. And the most important tip (learned the hard way)- make sure you follow the instruction steps to a T... because if you think you can assemble it any other way you will find that the holes for the next step (or 3 steps from now) will not match up and you will have to unscrew everything and do it over. DON"T DO IT!!! Just follow the instructions step by step and you will thank me for this later!

A Little Girl's Dream Bed!

I was weary of getting this because our daughter is so young. However, she absolutely LOVES it! It's a loft bed so it isn't as high as a bunk and she loves coming down the slide in the mornings. She is almost three and can easily navigate the ladder to get into bed. It does take a while to figure out but I did it in about half a day all by myself! Not bad for a mommy! The instructions pretty much are terrible! This bed is a great value for what you get and is super adorable. I mean, what princess wouldn't love it? Also, my husband and I are both heavy and almost meet the weight limits. But, we can get in it with her with no problems at all. Seems really sturdy.

I just wondered what it looks like underneath the bed. I read that some said you can put another mattress under but does it just rest on the floor? Or is there a platform of some kind to do so? Can anyone post a pic of what it looks like under there? Thanks!

  • There is definately room for another mattress, but no platform. It's just like the space under any other bed, just a lot higher.

  • There is no platform underneath the bed, it is just empty space. A mattress could fit, although I would recommend a thinner, bunk bed mattress instead of a twin size mattress, and it would rest on the floor. hope this helps!

  • another mattress would fit but the clearance would be low and it would just rest on the floor. We have pillows and her large stuffed animals under ours like a tent hang out. It has 3 sides that are metal railings for the base of the bed. The front is open except for the slide and ladder. The bottom is just your carpet or flooring.
