Really nice grip on the handle and the handles a little bigger then most so it fits good in your hand. Pretty thick blade on it to.

Others say it's not sharp but when it arrived I cut a piece of paper almost as easy as if I were using a razor. Good rubber grip that's soft and sticky for a firm hold. Locks in place well. Well worth the money

Solid

I wanted a knife I could use daily that would both hold an edge and hold up! This is it. I am thrilled with the workmanship on a knife in this price range. It comes a bit less than razor sharp but I quickly took care of that. It is easy opening and has a strong lock in the open position. The handle has a solid, slip resistant grip, it is light weight, and can be used from home to work to field dressing a deer. I highly recommend this knife!

bear grylls folding knife

I buy these 10 at a time for my workers. They love them. The knives are easy to see when dropped with the orange on the ends. Also easy to operate with gloves on and in muddy situations because of the lock on the back rather than on the inside. These Bear Grylls Gerber knives have reliable cutting with the serrated and straight parts of the blade. The only reason I have to buy more is because we still lose them every so often, I wish the whole thing was orange but we did just buy some lanyards so hopefully we won't lose them in the trenches anymore. We don't use the holsters because they fit well in the side pocket of our cargo pants and we can grab them out easily with gloves on but the holster looks well made. I don't know why Wal-Mart stopped carrying them in the stores. Wal-Mart .com is the cheapest place to buy them and such a reliable company too.

I also love the Bear Grylls Ultimate Fixed Blade Knife, it is an excellent fit in your hand and works the best in muddy conditions because there is no folding action. You can run with the knife in the sheath and never have it bounce out even with the velcro unstrapped because of the plastic holder. My only complaint is that I have to modify the holster so it hangs lower and doesn't dig into the side of my stomach.

Great knife

As a CUTCO knife salesmen two years back I'd have to say my brother and I love this knife. When opened, the blade has a strong, firm hold onto the handle; there's no wobble. Sharp, nice sheath, and a reliable size. One factor I didn't like is the charcoal coating on the blade; wish it would have a stainless steel finish so that if I drop it light will reflect off the open blade and I will be able to find it easily. Although may look cooler to some, can't reflect light at flying planes and search and rescue teams. There still is orange coloring on handle for you to easily find a lost or misplaced blade.

Excellent knife, very reliable!

good materials and faultless workmanship. Very sharp, including serration, fits the hand surely and securely.  I need two  hands to deploy quickly ( r.a. in thumbs ). you  may not have this problem. Closes safely with one hand.  Perfect medium size all purpose knife. Quality sheath carries horizontal or vertical;  will take  a bit of breaking in. buy with confidence. will take Time to earn fifth star.

I bought this as a beginner knife to use on my property in GA. It's not a top of the line Gerber but I like the feel and style. Great buy.

Great Knife for the price

I bought two of these knives. I like 'em a lot. I have two of the Bear Grylls fixed blades also. They are real good knives. But, I went to a local Wal-Mart and they said they don't sell the folding brand with sheath, so I ordered on line. I may order more of them.

Before purchasing I knew there were at least two manufacturers of this product for Gerber. One makes knives with the usual Gerber high quality, the second is an inferior manufacturer. Unfortunately the purchaser doesn't get a choice which one will get when ordering online. I should note: it doesn't bother me that the country of origin is China...The products from China run the full spectrum of quality from very good to very poor.

In my case I got a knife made by the inferior maker, so I simply went from the pick up counter to the return counter. Never opening the package nor leaving the store .

One can easily tell the difference between knives. The knives produced by the inferior manufacturer have the serrated section of the blade cut too deep into the blade. There should be little to no step in depth between the high portion of the serrations and the rest of the blade. Read online and you can see where many others have returned these knives because cutting with the blade becomes difficult if not outright dangerous where the blade switches from the serrated section to the normal blade on these knives. I suspect this problem was a result of a incorrect setting on the machine which holds the blade when the serrations were cut; but that is a guess from my engineering background. This problem should have been caught by Quality Control.

I purchased from Walmart because Walmart is an advertised seller of Bear Grylls products so I didn't fear getting a fake knockoff on ebay. Too bad Walmart no longer carries the products in their stores where one can see the item before purchasing. I am glade that Walmart's return policy is very good.
