I'd say that these shirts are for older girls, not 4-4 or 6-7 year olds. Maybe 8-10, depending on their body size. I'm a 53 year old woman who wears size large in girls. (Not X-large or small womens. Those would be too large for me). I'm not a midget or anything, I'm just a petite woman.

My granddaughter wears a 5-6, but they were sized ES, S, M, L. I ordered the small and she had plenty room, but I knew they would shrink up a little. The fit perfectly now - hope this helps

If purchased from "girls" section, they are regular girls' sizes not juniors. However, they do run a bit small so buy a size up.

Little girls, my 8 yr old daughter wears a 10-12.

I bought the XL size and it fits my 5 foot 1 inch daughter (83 pounds) perfectly. She is 11 years old. The XL size is 14/16.

I bought for a 9 year old that is between sizes--girls/juniors.....we found that small juniors was ok, and so was the girls XXL size, but I ordered the XL for girls and they fit, but for more wear, I'm ordering the XXL size-it was hit and miss, and returns...but Walmart was great on returns and reordered from the web..it was so easy, loved it! I ordered girls, because it was cheaper and they bundled for less!

it is for girls that are pre-teen - like an 8 yr old will most likely wear the 8, for instance, depending on their build.
