Genesis 700C Mens Fixed-Speed Track Bicycle 4.1 5 32 36
not bad for the price First of all, I like this bike and ride every day. It is good for the price. I would like to give a more critical review however.I bought this from Walmart.com. I did not expect a $1k bike quality, but a decent one (like a $300 single gear bike. I got this wrong expectation from many ositive reviews). The bike came in a cardboard box, and one side of the box was torn open. The bike was OK, and assembly was not a big problem. It came with a model specific assembly instruction. Very nice.Once assembled, I removed all decals (which were cheap stickers). Paint job did not look that professional, but the bike looked pretty. Satisfied. However, I found this bike needed a major tune-up and had lots of problems. Both wheels were untrue. A major adjustment of both brakes were required to ride. It was relatively heavy (29 lb?) for a single gear bike. When I started pedaling, my left heel hit the folded sidekick, and feet hit the front wheel at turns. a definite design flaw. Some people may want to put some money to tune it up and upgrade. Once you finish all upgrades and tune up, you may find you end up with a unexpectedly high price tag. Others, therefore, would like to save some money buy a better bike. 07/12/2010
too heavy after reading some previous reviewers i decided to give this bike a try.its never a good idea to buy a bike without trying it first, but it seemed like a great deal.very easy to put together, took it for a ride and was surprised how heavy and slow it felt, now its just sitting in my stairway, instead i'm using my 20 year old beat up bike which rides much smoother.it also seemed to big for a small rider like myself (5'7). 06/28/2010
Front inner tube ripped after the first ride. Buyer beware. 05/28/2010
They Laughed At Me I've been wanting to get into bike racing for a while now. Recently I've been heading to the local Wednesday night velo races down at the bike track. It's pretty incredible to watch the racers speed around the track just inches from each other. I wanted a piece of the action.I plopped down the $150 and road off from my local Walmart. First of all, it's really hard to pedal this thing. You have to push down with a lot of force just to get going, and if you head up a hill? Forget it, had to walk the bike... where are all the gears? The following Wednesday I took my bike to the track and paid the entry fee. When I walked into the bike corral other racers started laughing at my bike... the kickstand and breaks were quite the novelty, along with people trying to heft the bike up with one arm. Only three of the guys could do it. I was embarrassed, but knew I could persevere. When the race started I cranked hard and started moving. I quickly fell behind and never actually got to experience what it felt like to be inches behind the guy in front of me. Instead I got to feel what its like to get passed... over and over. This bike might be great for a lot of people, but for a future velo racer it just doesn't cut it. 08/10/2010
