It should work fine. I've use it for bike riding and hiking after dark.

I am not sure this would be bright enough for a camp-out. It is fine for using under the house or a dark space but does not illuminate outside.

I used it on a night hike in a jungle, worked great

Would this be suitable for rustic camping? Basically I would be using it outside the camp site.

Bought these for my two grandsons, 4 & 7 and the adjustable headband fits their lil heads as well my grampa head. Plenty of light on high power and enough on low power for inside the tent. Time will tell how long these last on active youngsters. And a great price! I bought 2 more; one for the truck and one for my bug out bag.

Great light great price!

We use this light for many night tasks around our horse property. It emits plenty of light and we especially like the fact that the head is adjustable to shine the light beam where we need it. This light is much brighter than a comparably priced light we purchased a couple of years ago, has a much thicker headband, and the light head adjusts to direct the beam which the previous one did not. I would recommend this product for activities such as around the campsite, hiking back to camp after dark, and general uses around the home. I gave three stars for durability because we have not had the light long enough to evaluate the durability and hope the hinge on the adjustable head will last.

Very good light for a variety of tasks.

This Ozark headlamp fit my needs perfectly, I work on equipment in an area with little light, and instead of using a flashlight with this headlamp it frees up my hands. I like the fact that on the low setting the battery lasts for 91 hours, and the low setting is all I need. The headband adjusts very well to any size head, and is stretchable to boot, so you can adjust to a comfort setting. Being able to aim the light down is also a great needed feature, and all this for $7, it is a steal.

Great headlamp for little explorers or big ones to

I found this easy to use, reliable, comfortable.  I was using it in a camp ground.  I am not sure how stable it would be if you were jogging or hiking vigorously since there is not a band across the top of your head.  But for what I was using it for, it was great!

Easy to use, reliable

The Ozark Trail 50 Lumen Headlamp is an excellent value. To start, you can't beat the price for the amount of lumen you get. The headlamp cast an excellent lighted area for arm length tasks and sufficient for 12 -16 feet ahead. The beam pattern is wide to give good coverage (approximately 24 degree spread). The push button switch on top of the headlamp cycles from High, Low and Off. The low setting is about half the brightness as the high setting. The headlamp uses 3 AAA batteries and is easily replaces by unsnapping a tension clip next to the push button.

The lamp is hinged on the bottom so it may be rotated down. The indention on the hinge mechanism holds the position sufficiently and steady. I'm not sure how durable the hinge will be after many uses since the part is plastic.

So far, I've used it to replaced a washing machine pump, front brake rotors and shoes, chasing grandkids in the dark and detailing my car late at night.

Only upgrade I would recommend is the headband should be a bit larger to accommodate big heads. I wear a hat size of 7 1/8 and the headband is almost at the maximum size. Oh, did I mentioned it cost less then $7.

Best Bang for the Buck

I am a headlamp freak, I work on cars and do a lot outdoors, I use them to read when my wife is asleep and to check on my sleeping baby in the night. THIS IS MY FAVORITE LIGHT. it is an amazing deal for the money. I've owned countless headlamps from Petzl, Energizer, and others., expensive and cheap models. (My wife even got me a fancy LED LENSER German headlamp that one some innovation award cost $60+..my least favorite). This headlamp from Ozark Trail is an amazing deal, buy one to keep in the glove box of each car you own. throw one in your tackle box and hunting gear, put one in your tool box too! The light quality is great, it is super lightweight and simple to use...comfortable...and at this price are you kidding me!! (P.S. the Ozark Trail 150 about 2x the price is also great if you want a red LED option). Once you own a headlamp you'll never use a flashlight again...a good headlamp for me is a top 5 life necessity....jump on these!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! AMAZING LIGHT For $$

Purchased these for a kayak trip in the dark - for those of you who know the bio bay trip in PR - you know what I am talking about. Kayaking in pitch dark conditions in mangrove forest in a small canal about 10 feet wide. Was pretty decent, thought 50Lumens would be plenty, it was very good. Very easy to use, good quality headband, and the light switch is extremely convenient. The entire kayak trip was about 2.5- 3 hrs and this headband light was awesome. Just that one use paid off for the cost I would say

These headlamps are perfect for camping and for go-bags. The price was perfect as well.
You don't need 5000 lumens when just doing basic stuff around the campsite. The tilt function was easy for my 6 year old to do.
