Using a gas-powered generator indoors can kill a person in minutes. That's because generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a deadly poison gas that you cannot see or smell.
NEVER run a Generac generator indoors or in partly enclosed areas, such as garages.
ONLY use a Generac generator outdoors and far from windows, doors, vents, crawl spaces and in an area where adequate ventilation is available and will not accumulate deadly exhaust gas.
Never store a generator with fuel in the tank where gasoline vapors might reach an open flame, spark or pilot light. Do not smoke near fuel or generator.Many generator parts are hot enough to burn you during operation and while the generator is cooling after turning off. Avoid coming into contact with a hot generator.

Great product ; minor complaints This is a great product ... bought prior to Hurricane Irene to replace an old inoperative generator. And it has done what we bought it for. It is not perfect, though ...Some good points:- starts on one pull- has a muffler (wow - quiet!)- has wheels and a handle- has digital hourmeter- has rubber covers for unused outletsBut it has some shortcomings, too:- twist-lock for the 220V cable is very difficult (impossible, in fact) due to the "seat" for the rubber flap- poor manual (incomplete, unclear and/or conflicting setup information and incomplete parts description)- outdated (?) manual (flashing icon on display is not identified or described in any way).- Dreadful support web site.Would I buy it again? Absolutely. But Generac, please fix the ridiculous issues described. 08/28/2011
