The unit includes an internal battery, power cord, and window mounting bracket, (which is illegal to use in MN). I would recommend buying an aftermarket weighted dash mat that the window mounting bracket can be fastened to. When the unit is powered on it must first determine your location before you can use it for navigation. If your stationary this usually takes under a minute, if your moving it could take a little longer. If you want to enter a "where to" destination you can do this while the unit is determining its location. Touch the "view map" icon, if you see a question mark the GPS has not yet determined the location. Once location is determined you can use the unit for navigation.

Unit came complete and clean,though not in original box,packing was sufficient. Maps download was about 1.50 long...but went without event. Unit works well, I like the visible intersections feature. So far so good...and at this price hard to beat.

First day on the job!

I'm writing this because I saw the 2 star review. I don't know where he saw the camera included, but I researched beforehand and never saw this. This is a great unit, I bought it after I dropped my Magellan and broke the speaker, and I couldn't be happier. I deliver for my company, the maps are better than my previous GPS, and there's included options for voice and visuals. The only option I miss is the automatic shutoff I could program into my Magellan.

Great GPS

Garmin GPS is excellent. I have been using it for five years. It is very easy to use. This GPS has a spoken turn by turn direction with the street names. It also monitors your speed limit so you know how fast you are speeding your car. This GPS assists you right away if you take the wrong lane. It shows you the shortcut so you save more time when you drive. Moreover this Garmin GPS is beneficial and low price; anyone who hasn't used this GPS should get one because it will be helpful for them.

Affordable Gps

Garmin GPS units are very easy to use. Free lifetime map updates insure that your GPS will stay current. No GPS unit can give instant updates but Garmin does a good job of including road changes within a reasonable time. This is a great buy for a basic GPS unit that is suitable for most travelers. The onscreen and spoken information allows you to get in the proper lane and be ready for turns and exits without keeping your eyes glued to the screen.

Great price for easy to use unit

Too many time the GPS mislead me, leads me in circles, in the opposite direction of my destination only to waste time taking un-needed long way, into heavy traffic, much heavier than the direct route would take. These are the major issues.
When I choose the better, shorter, faster route (i.e. to my house) instead of adjusting to the rte I chose it keeps insisting on every intersecting rd to make me turn back!
Out of town, in areas unknown to me it got me into trouble: leading me several tomes starting in the opposite direction than taking me back to my starting point. In one situations instead of going to my destination directly, in a straight line, it took me around in a "rectangle adding many, many miles and going thru a big City, passing thru the city by itself added an hour to the trip.

Garmin nuvi 52LM 5" GPS Unit

I purchased this GPS at a higher price because the product description states that the GPS is back up camera compatible, AND back up camera INCLUDED. There was NO back up camera. This will be the second GPS returned for inaccurate product description.

This GPS is just okay. it's very erratic. I've been using (dealing) with this thing for 6 months. It works for the most part but no matter what the settings are and even on a clear day it will lose the satellite. and sometimes on the highway my exit will be say 2 miles away. for whatever reason this unit will all of a sudden want me to exit early and take 10 minutes of extra city streets to get to a destination that was 5 minutes away. and on long drives, the display will start spinning back and forth like it's lost and the path I'm supposed to be on is to the left of the units vehicle. My speedometer will say I'm going 65mph but this unit will say I'm going 45mph. I've tried changing the settings to faster time and shorter distance but it always acts erratic. Maybe it's the firmware. I've updated the unit twice. It does seem to have a hard time decoding the satellite information.

This is my third Garmin and a total disappointment. We travel extensively and have always relied upon other Garmin units with no problem except that now they are outdated with no lifetime maps. the reviews on this one were mostly good but we have found that the directions seem to be written by someone who has never seen a map. We traveled from RI to NH recently and thinking I would use the Garmin for a route better than the accustomed one , we were led hither and yon on a totally useless route . I liked the way the old one said "off route, recalculating" because then I knew I had missed a turn. this one says "continue on route". It often sent us North when we should obviously have gone South.
If I can return this when I get home I will and buy a different Garmin because the company is a good one.
