- I use my 76CSx on the Gulf and found the Garmin BlueCharts to be great. Give a lot of detail and have kept me away from dangerous places more than once.by BillCFL5/10/2013Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)Was this answer helpful?
- You will need to purchase a map program for the unit. The base map is worthless. I purchase the Inland Lakes Program on DVD which covers the whole US. You can load any area that you are fishing at. It also seems to show all roads, but could not be used as a turn-by-turn guide. You may want the Coastal map program.by CRRhappyGuy5/7/2010Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)Was this answer helpful?
- Yes. You can manually enter waypoints and then "find" them. The GPS will give you distance and bearing to your waypoint. Work equally well on land or water. This model even floats. Garmin has marine software, maps, etc. if you are into using this full time on water. You can also mark waypoints and return to them later with an avg. accuracy or 3 meters. - Hello, GPS works anywhere in the world. Hence the "G" ifor global in GPS. This GPS is suited for marine use as it floats and Garmin offers software maps for marine/boaters. If all you want to do is go to a waypoint and find your way home, then it should be OK as is. The unit will leave a breadcrumb trail for you to follow to bring you back. Also, it is always a good idea to set a waypoint at the start of any trip. You will be grateful for it when you need it. Good Luck.by Pnonymous1/26/2010Was this answer helpful?
