    About this item

The GMC Denali 700c Men's Road Bike is built around a lightweight aluminum road bicycle frame. As its name suggests, it is meant for typical road usage, such as plain commuting or racing. It features a slim wheel and a smooth tire that reduces the friction between the road and the tire. This GMC Denali 21-Speed Road Bike is equipped with alloy calipers and brake levers to make stopping smooth and precise. The rims of the X-Large GMC Denali 700c Road Bike are made of high-profile alloy Vitesse and perform as good as they look. A better aerodynamic position is possible with the lower hand position. Shimano Revo shifters allow you to shift without taking your hands off the handle bars, providing safety and confidence. A Shimano derailleur completes the road cycle drive train for quick and smooth gear changes. This GMC Denali 21-Speed Road Bike is a good entry level bike and is well worth the price.

It has been a number of years since I rode a drop handlebar bicycle, so I did not want to spend $500 or $1000 on a new bike, just to lose interest. My last bike was a 24-inch frame, and this is a little bigger, but still fits well. It needs adjustment for the individual rider, and I am still in the process of doing that. There are a few minor issues, like wheels that are a bit out of true, a slightly bent arm on the front brake, and the bearings were too tight on the front wheel (I added a bit if extra grease, since they seem to be a bit stingy at the factory), but for the price it can't be beat. The black and silver paint makes the bike look more expensive than it is, with the main giveaway being the somewhat cheap and cheesy crank, which I took the outer plastic ring off of to make look better. Especially if you can do your own tune-up and proper adjustment, and you are 6'1" or taller, it is a great bike for the money.

I read a LOT of reviews of this bike. Most were positive, some nagging about little issues. Yes, the breaks leave a little to be desired, however, I was able to tighten them a little and they work fine(youtube how to tighten brakes). The seat is not real comfortable. Guess what, no road bike seat is comfortable. In fact the most expensive, lightweight saddles are are nothing more than a thin layer of leather over a board. It will take getting used to and you will need padded shorts for any type of distance riding. The spin shift gears are great for me. I can easily downshift 4-5 gears at a time quickly which I like. I'm 6'2 inches tall. I debated on whether to get the XL or the large frame. The XL fits me perfect. You WILL NOT find a bike this cheap to get started riding. Do not expect a GIANT,TREK, or SPECIALIZED bike. If you want one of those, pay the $600-$1000 to get started. And to be honest, I rode a specialized my brother has, and there is no way I would pay $500 more to have a bike like that for what I do(which is riding 10-20 miles around my town, 2-3 times a week). Easy to put together(you will have to tinker with brakes and derailleurs but it is minimal), seems to hold up well and looks great. I would recommend this bike to anyone wanting to get started in road biking.

I have rode this bike just 6 or 8 times probably about 60 miles. Like it alot. I am 6'4'' and it fits me well. I put riser handlebars on it and a different shifter. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

    • 9/16ths wrench worked the front axle bolts, a screwdriver [multi-head screws for the derueller stops], and allen wrenches [2 sizes I got through using SAE] and my front gear shift cable needed slack taken up [pliers/3/8'' fit looser than I'd like but did it, I'd use pliers or find a metric wrench], same for one of the brake cables. I'm used to derueller setups and the front tire, reflector, seat and bottle holder went right on, took about an hour.

    • It is easy if you have the proper size tools. (metric) If you have it shipped to a store, they are supposed to assemble it for you if you request, however.

    • It is very easy to assembly if you are familiar with tools. If you dont own any tools and never touch them then maybe you should have someone else put it together but there are no advanced technical skills needed.

    • Very easy. Put on the rront wheel, peddles and handle bars. The rest was together. Cables were lubed, back wheel was already tight.

    • No problem....turn in and tighten the pedals....pop in the seat post and tigten 2 allen screws....Push handle bar assembly into top tube and tighten with an allen wrench....air up the tires... adjust front brakes with pliers and a wrench. This bike comes very well protected for shippind...takes longer to unpack and take the tape and cardboard off then it does to assemble bike!

    • It's not too difficult. Getting the derailer set up right can be a bit of a challenge and time consuming if you haven't done it before.

I just purchased a GMC denali road bike, and the front wheel is crooked, what do i do ?
    by an anonymous customer 6/19/2011
    • "Crooked ?"..#it wobbles when it's spinning means either spoke/rim adjustments or the wheel rim is bent, possibly spokes stretched# I'd lean toward the wheel is bent #especially if it's bent much# if sorting out a new purchase, bent = stretched enough to matter [doesn't really bend back exactly] at some point.

    • I had the same issue. Take it to the local Wal-Mart show them your receipt and have the assembler take care of it for you. If it's easier just take it to a local bike shop, spend the $15-$25 and have them true the wheels for you. The bike's not hugely expensive to fix and it's probably a big hassle taking it back to the store to see if you can get help with it.
